Yours, probably not since you could have an 401k or non publicly known long term investment holding that could materially skew the net worth calc. The difference is big parts of the Presidents Net Worth calculation is known or already disclosed. The biggest sticking point to his net worth is the value of his business holdings.


For example, if you had to disclose your stock/cash holdings and real estate owned (like the President) and if the remainder of your net worth was from your ownership in SpaceCoastVol widgets, a review of the business returns of SpaceCoastVol Widgets could help in determine the value of the widget company. If you add that value to the known, you can get pretty close

Much earlier in my career I did business valuations (especially for estates/partnership dissolutions/divorce). You can get a lot of info from those returns to form/support a valuation.

I have no grounds to speak about legality. Personally, though, I don’t want a president who is potentially morally corrupt in a tremendous amount of debt and with holdings all over the globe dealing with our foreign policy and in the position of safeguarding America. Nobody should want that.

He has been president for four years.....you either like the direction/plans for the country or you don’t.... I don’t really seeing this being much of an issue

I dont think it matters much really. Most people have their minds already made up. It's just a blow to his ego, that's it.

There's nothing blatantly illegal disclosed and no disclosed dealings with Russia. He's just not as successful as he let's on and has lied/exaggerated about some of his financial success. I think most knew that already.

He's not the first to lie or exaggerate about $$$$

I would love to know where the IP is domiciled. Are DJT's businesses not that successful or does he have the Trump IP domiciled in some tax haven (This creates income at 0% rate where IP is domiciled and huge deductions in the U.S. - This isnt illegal but there does have to be arms-length pricing)

@evillawyer - This could be 1 explanation for income on disclosure report and losses on tax return

Seems like he has phenomenal accountants with an excellent planned business structure.

Tax Avoidance: practiced by every US taxpayer, who isn’t a moron, every year. 401-K, IRA, HSA, depreciated assets, business expenses, interest paid, etc., are all forms of tax avoidance and completely legal.

Tax Evasion: unreported income... like cash work under the table, underreported money from tips, hiding/underreporting assets, etc. This one is illegal and frowned on by the I.R.S.

The bigger question is, did the NY Times just Assange themselves?🤣🤦‍♀️
