He undermined himself the first night by sending Spicer out to claim the media was fake and intentionally under reporting the inauguration crowd size. He further undermined himself by his lunatic claims of winning the popular vote because of the millions of illegal voters. He went on and on and on undermining his own presidency. Every time he says "fake news" or "crooked Hillary" or blasts other politicians in an unprofessional way, he undermines his own presidency. He started undermining himself before he even entered the race. Why some seem shocked that he is now reaping what he sowed is beyond me.

Newsflash - the people who voted to him did so knowing his demeanor and what you call lack of professionalism. That doesn't undermine his legitimacy in their eyes. No matter how bad your FEELINGS got hurt

We know that it doesn't undermine his legitimacy in the eyes of many who voted for him, what you seem to fail to realize is that it does indeed undermine his legitimacy in the eyes of most everyone else. The numbers continue to shift away from fake president trump. In every instance trump has had to win favor from his detractors, he instead has chosen to further alienate them for the sake of appeasing his core base of 20%. The result is a small percentage of people that will support him even if he shoots somebody in Times Square, and a growing majority that view him with varying degrees of disdain.
