White House lawyers are expected to meet with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office late this week seeking good news: that his sprawling investigation's focus on President Donald Trump will soon end and their client will be cleared.
People with knowledge of the investigation said it could last at least another year - pointing to ongoing cooperation from witnesses like former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, as well as a possible trial of two former Trump campaign officials. The special counsel's office has continued to request new documents related to the campaign and members of Mueller's team have told others they expect to be working through much of 2018, at the minimum.

I think Velo just figured out what many already know. This whole Russia thing is a big waste of time and money.

Is this what concerns you the cost and your time?

I dunno, if I was as innocent as he is professing I would be rooting for Mueller to exonerate me in front of the American public as a big f u to the Libs.

The game plan now has two fronts. One, attack Mueller and the investigation as partisan and unworthy of belief in its conclusions. Two, repeat expectation of exoneration, over and over.

In this manner they can express feigned outrage so as to circle the base and create a crisis of confidence in the DOJ and the FBI when the final shoes drop and show Russian influence on Trump, either financial or blackmail-related, or show promises by Trump of taking it easy on them on sanctions as payback either for financial help over the years, or help in the election.

This would give the GOP House the political cover they need to reject the findings and avoid impeaching him.

The wild card is timing. If the report comes out, say, in the summer, then it could easily become the entire focus of the House mid-terms, with the storyline that if the Dems take the House back, then Trump will be impeached as a result of the report.

your wild card is the partisan hackery. drag it out long enough it wont matter if Trump is innocent or not, you have drawn doubt out for so long the question lingers.

where is your line? this continues the push to ignore our legal system. Right to a speedy trial? Hahaha, you don't have a right to a speedy investigation while the charges linger over you making you a pariah.

I think it's hard to blame "The left" for how long this is taking when 1) Trump fired two people, Yates and Comey, who were already pretty far along in figuring it out; 2) Trump has been so secretive about things like his tax returns and financial dealings, which might have helped allay concerns; and, 3) a central part of the problem is Trump people having lied so often to investigators and on their disclosure paperwork.

All of those actions by Trump and his people have contributed significantly to the time required to investigate all of this.

Yates would have been fired investigation or not, plus she refused to follow orders on the vetting EO. When doesn't a new administration change out the top people at the DOJ?

The rest is just BS speculation on your part. Muller is part of the machine regardless of which party is in power and right now the establishment party is the ones truly in power and he is doing their bidding.

Stein had said complimentary things about Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, who Warner said “clearly was being used by the Russians to take some of the hacked information and release into our political system.”

Trump's lawyers will meet with Muellers this week. Despite the false narrative generated by the White House, Ty Cobb and company will be told the investigation is still underway and they cannot predict a future end date. As a result, Trump is going to fly off the handle.

I'd wager there's a 50-50 chance that Trump - bolstered by recent Republican criticism of Mueller, and bolstered by his own arrogant belief of impunity (see: sexual harassment) - will summon his Deputy Attorney General over the holidays and direct him to fire Bob Mueller. The timing is perfect, and an immediate, en masse political response difficult.

Rosenstein likely will refuse Trumps directive and be summarily fired. The next AG in line will be posed the same directive, and this will continue until some ethics-devoid ass clown does Trumps bidding.

Rumor is Kushner is next to be indicted. If true, and if Trump feels there is merit to this rumor, I'd say the odds of this scenario are more like 90% likely.

Hope I'm wrong, and hope this is purely misguided conspiracy theory on my part. But if not, a full blown constitutional crisis is on our doorstep.
