I have trust in Nico... How many freshman and redshift freshman come out looking like All Americans? He is taking some lumps with an average at best Oline... Luckily we have a defense that's elite... But I have faith it's gonna start to click and he will make a jump! I look a Jaden Daniel's his first year starting when we played him at LSU.... He was struggling bad most that year until the end... I feel Nico will have a game where he figures it out... Hopefully is this upcoming week! Keep grindin Nico!

The throw he made to brazzell across the middle shows what talent he has and the potential locked in there.. the running out of bounds at arkansas as the game ends shows how much he has to learn. Its hard to win in the SEC as poorly as the offensive unit has been the last 3 games he is still 6 and 1 as a started. When it clicks against SEC defenses watch out! I trust heup to teach and nico to grow. Hope it starts this week.

Nico is going to be fine. It’s insane how so many in the fanbase are jumping ship so quickly with him. He just needs this experience playing in SEC games. It’s going to click eventually. This isn’t like hes’s a fifth year senior like Joe last year still not clicking. My only gripe is that we didn’t play him last year and let him learn then. Who cares if we would have lost another game or two. He would be much further down the line now. But that didn’t happen so he’s having the growing pains now.

He’s got a lot of stuff going on mentally right now. A lot of that is just not protecting him. Needs to make quicker decisions, get the ball out, check down, run, or throw it away. Watching it back there were plays where it looks like he sees where the ball should go but doesn’t throw on time. Almost second guessing himself.

Have to protect better, simplify the offense a bit, get receivers on the field that actually catch the ball when it hits them in the hands. He’s still going to make mistakes bc he’s a young player but at least then the deck is stacked in his favor a bit more.

No way to know yet. Is the oline bad? Yes. Is the oline totally to blame for his poor play?
No. But it’s a big factor. Has he been close to making some plays? Yes. Has he been mistake prone? Yes. The opening drive fumble seemed to be on him. It set a bad tone for the game.

The truth is we don’t know what he will be. But if you are playing percentages . . . The greater likelihood is he will not be a generational QB as people hyped him to be. Why? Well . . . Star QBs aren’t growing on trees and way more end up just ok than end up being Peyton Manning.

We won’t know really what Nico will be - probably - until around this time next year.

Did you say Peyton or Paintin?

Nico is going to be fine. Playing QB is hard.

This. He needed more reps earlier this season also. He was taken out before halftime in first 3 games.

The Vols destroyed Daniels at LSU with a makeshift defense that wasn't very good. Hooker had to score 7,000 points in each game with UTs defense that season and even that UT defense shut the young Daniels down. QBs do grow up and get better, once the game slows down and they get more knowledgeable with what defenses are trying to do and disguises.

Not saying Nico will be Daniels. What if he is, or even better. Would that be pretty good?

It is amazing how they redshirted Nico and how he allowed and agreed to that, especially in the day and age. To me, that shows Nico's maturity, long term goals and willingness to be patient and learn. Literally no one is like this anymore, this makes him rare.

I do wish that the staff would have played Nico a lot more in the 4 games he was allowed under the redshirt rule. That could've helped tremendously. Heup was hell bent on Milton, but with the redshirt plan with Nico, I get it. Certainly playing more quarters of football within redshirt limit may have helped.....

I hope he becomes that but they are 2 completely different QBs style wise, size and quick twitch speed.

The league has adjusted to the system and the system hasn’t adjusted back. Combine that with a poor OL and it’s a nightmare for a young QB.

I agree with that. These teams know what's coming. Compound that with bad Oline play and a QB that isn't sure what he's seeing. You get what you get..

I do not agree with that at all. Our issues are easy to spot…OL, QB and WRs…it has little to nothing to do with the system being “figured out.”

When the execution improves, the system will magically start working again.

Well maybe line up different then until it does start working. We're making it too easy sometimes.
