Trust in Nico!

I have trust in Nico... How many freshman and redshift freshman come out looking like All Americans? He is taking some lumps with an average at best Oline... Luckily we have a defense that's elite... But I have faith it's gonna start to click and he will make a jump! I look a Jaden Daniel's his first year starting when we played him at LSU.... He was struggling bad most that year until the end... I feel Nico will have a game where he figures it out... Hopefully is this upcoming week! Keep grindin Nico!
Would be an interesting twist if we ran more Nico under center to give Bama different view and better play action

I wish hendon was with him last yr and not overthrow joe
Boy, oh boy, you Joe haters always find things to fault the man with. I practically expect you folks to rename the Apophis asteroid, Overthrow Joe. It has about a 3% chance of impacting the Earth in 2029. If its trajectory is gravitationally altered, making it even a 4% chance, you folks will blame Joe for that. It's sickening.

Nico plays scared
Agree.

In simple terms, whether it should or shouldn't be, he wasn't as mentally prepared for SEC play as we all hoped and he shouldve been. His first SEC start was at Oklahoma and all the hype that went with it.

For whatever reason(s) I genuinely believe he got spooked and for other reasons not of his own, he hasn't recovered and fully gotten his confidence back.

In my humble opinion, benching him during Florida would have been catastrophic and sealed our fate for the season. And possibly the next.

Yea, his numbers are slightly better than Peyton Manning’s freshman numbers and Peyton definitely had a better OL.

I am not sure off the top of my head what his record is as a starter but I will take it. Let Nico grow. I still believe.

Simplifying his reads and check downs while rolling him out could do wonders for the young qb while taking some pressure off the o line.
That and fullback leading Sampson on occasion.
Play up the strengths hide a weakness or two.
Don't think they could be anymore simple. He hardly ever looks to more than one option an any play or receiver. Part of this is turning into habit because of having on time. What I can't understand is; he came in as a high rated run-pass QB, WHY DOES HE NOT TAKEOFF WHEN THINGS ARE NOT AS THEY SHOULD BE? RUN!! This could help the o-line some by putting more to watch for in the the d-line men's mind. (would also allow us to get caught holding more often,,,, oh well)

By now he should be....
You'd think so..These plays are taking way more time to delevope than he has. Seems to me they'd try another option. Like shorter passes or one or two looks then take off. He needs some help because he's as lost as last year's Easter egg right now..

100 percent, I like him and think he has all the tools but he does not have the “snap and clear” mentality that we were told he had in the off season. Hopefully it will get better but he has a long way to go.

Confidence in Nico is commendable but so far not warranted by performance. Before the UF game his QB rating was10th in the SEC. It is likely even lower after last Saturday’s dismal performance - a QB rating of 17.4, by far the worst of any QB who participated in intra-league games. Even Lagway, UF’s second-string, true frosh QB, had a QB rating of about 40. For further comparison, Vandy’s “no-star” QB had a rating of 87.4, while UK’s Vandagraff had a rating of 63.7.

It is a mystery. We do have an under-performing OL, but is it really one of the worst in the SEC? Nico was a 5-star QB who has been with the team for 1 1/2 years under a coach with a reputation as a master at developing QBs. But he still has yet to show he can perform at the level required by QBs in the SEC.

No way to know yet. Is the oline bad? Yes. Is the oline totally to blame for his poor play?
No. But it’s a big factor. Has he been close to making some plays? Yes. Has he been mistake prone? Yes. The opening drive fumble seemed to be on him. It set a bad tone for the game.

The truth is we don’t know what he will be. But if you are playing percentages . . . The greater likelihood is he will not be a generational QB as people hyped him to be. Why? Well . . . Star QBs aren’t growing on trees and way more end up just ok than end up being Peyton Manning.

We won’t know really what Nico will be - probably - until around this time next year.
Great perspective on Nico . I posted earlier about the Kid at Clemson and Milrow at Bama . Both really struggled early in their careers and are both now playing good football. It just takes time and the Sec is a cruel teacher. We still need to protect better and Nico needs to run more.

This is a bad comparison. Peyton's first six games of his Freshman (True Freshman) year:

@ #14 UCLA
@ #23 Georgia
#1 Florida
@ Miss State
#17 Wash St
Ark

Compared to Nico's first six games of his Freshman (Redshirt Freshman) year:

TN-Chatt
#24 NC St
Kent St
@ #15 OK
@ Ark
FL

Peyton enrolled summer of 1994 so he only had Fall'94 camp before starting.
Nico enrolled in Dec'22 so he had Dec'22 & Dec'23 bowl prep, Spring'23 & Spring'24 training and Fall'23 & Fall'24 camps.

Not even close to the same!

But you need to remember that Peyton was a TRUE freshman that got his first start against Washington State after injuries to Colquitt and Helton. Peyton went on to lead the Vols to a 7-1 record in those last 8 games including a bowl win against Virginia Tech. Nico ain’t no Peyton … not yet anyway. GBO!!!

Update: Apologies to utVolFaninVa I was writing my post at the same time as you apparently … but I agree with you100%.

We would look so out of place because everybody is stuck on shotgun.

It’s not in our wheelhouse but I like the under center looks and even some pistol type plays with play action leading to TE looks

I’ll admit at times I was hoping we’d give Moore a shot in the first half. Looking back, Nico’s confidence is already pretty low and getting benched for a walk on would shatter it. We gotta ride with him. Hopefully it starts to click for him at some point

I’m feeling really good about this game. I’ll ride with Nico everyday of the week, but the defense is what gives me confidence. 2 names to be on the lookout for this weekend: Chaz Nimrod and James Pearce, they have both officially arrived this season🍊🍊🍊
