Put TCU, Boise State and Cinci in the SEC and their recruiting will mean nothing and they'll be just like Vandy

They certainly wouldn't play in BCS bowls, but they wouldn't be THAT bad. Probably 7 or 8 win teams.

I think the spirit of this thread was, correct me if I'm wrong Tabrams, if we come in at say, 11th (not 70's like the three mentioned), if CDD can coach, we can play with the UF's and Bamas. It is not ALL about NSD.

Yes! Everyone is freaking out about the stars and rankings...... I remember when we were trying to recruit Cody, and at the time I had NO IDEA he would be that great in college.......I think the coaches for the most part know the talent out there, but even they are wrong many times........(i.e. Nick Reviez)......we will be fine.......

Cinci/3rd/79th
TCU/4th/71st
BSU/6th/75th

It's a mixture of both. We need to recruit the most players with upside and ability, but EVERY recruit (no matter of * ranking) needs coaching to succeed at the college level. We need the best of both worlds.

As for Cin, TCU, and BSU...they would not have seasons anywhere near that if they mirrored an SEC schedule. Attrition, athletes, etc... it's a totally different world down here.

We need to compete with the top SEC teams in everything, it's the only way to get where we are trying to go. Don't worry about anyone else, it doesn't matter. Compete with the teams we know and out work them, those are the dividends we strive for.

I would love to agree with you, however this is the SEC. A top 10 finish is likely going to wind up being 6th in the SEC.

which basically means that it's a push. The difference between a #1 class and a #10 class isn't as wide as most believe. As long as we keep in this top 10 range every year, then it's all about coaching.

Evaluating talent is the holy grail of recruiting! Michael Taylor was unknown when we offered him,it was only after dominating the skills comp at the AA game then being named MVP that the turds came calling. Evaluating and Coaching up is where this staff will exceed until it gets a product on the field. Then they can recruit to the program! Three weeks simply was not enough time to assemble the proper staff and finalize recruiting, but I'm encouraged with the way they have kept alot of the class together. We only lost the mercenary kids, only looking for an eventual paycheck. We're better off without most of them. We need to hang onto the kids already on the roster,Numbnuts ran 10-12 kids off which might make it neccessary to take more project kids than normal for warm bodies and scout team players!! GO VOLS AND CDD!!!!

we need to have a top ten class every year but this year is a pass for dooley if that doesn't happen, thanks to you know the last guy. recruiting is very important but player development is just as important. I trust our coach for the simple fact of the years he spent under saban. Now I hate bama as bad as anyone but saban is the best coach in modern age cfb!
