Trying not to

get sucked in. I know, this team feels very different than the train wrecks of the past, but I just simply can't let myself get all hyped up. I want to, but every time I do, every time I get sucked in, I get crushed. I know it's been one hell of a season to this point and way above and beyond anything that any of us expected, and I'll still feel crushed if we lose tomorrow. I say it every year, that I'm not gonna fall into that trap, and then I go and do it, every freaking time. So please football gods smile down on our Vols and let them kick the holey hell out of Georgia.

C'mon, Man. Live it up and relish the moment!!! It's been a long time. I'm d*mn confident we can win.

I’m completely comfortable and relaxed the night before this game. Man, we sure could win this thing. It’s gonna be a game and we’re gonna be in it all the way to the wire with a great chance to win. If we don’t, we don’t. Still damn proud of these guys. And likely we will still go 11-1, a NY 6 bowl game and finish in the top 5. Now, who wouldn’t have taken that if offered at the first of the season?? And it’s the coaching job of the century considering where we came from. Go VOLS! 🍊

I can't help it. I don't care if we're a 40 point dog and I've said all week we would need a miracle. Come gametime, I expect to win the game and every time I'm pissed when we lose. Nothing will be different tomorrow but we will still be on track for a very memorable season regardless. Hopefully nothing happens in the 3 games after UGA to sour it.

It’s really silly for it to bother me, a grown man playing no active part……..but it does. I’ve got kids, a stressful job, responsibilities……yet I take every game to heart. Have since I was 10 years old. I want to enjoy the ride, but I just have trouble doing so. I do, however, believe that even if we do lose tomorrow, we aren’t totally out of CFP contention and will wind up at least 12-1 with a New Years Six victory. I thought 9-4/10-3 would be lights out for the year back in August, so we will exceed best expectations. In short, I should be happy….but need psychotherapy to be so 😅

To be honest, you’ve come to the right place. VN is replete with lunatics and psychotherapy candidates that can empathize with you. It’s one big, happy, dysfunctional (almost) family.

You mean there are others!? 😂
It kills me how people can nonchalantly watch a game. I pace, change the channel, go outside……a million other things. Full disclosure though, the last two years I barely watched. Lot of stuff going on, and that didn’t rate. I’m back to sweaty palms, nervous stomach, and rampant pessimism this year though 😄

Why are some being so hard on the OP? I took the comment as a TN fan being nervous about the game, and that he will be disappointed if TN loses the game. Everyone on here will be disappointed if TN loses the game.

The OP didn’t say he wasn’t happy w the results thus far.

Anyway, I hope TN wins as it’s been a long time since I’ve had the anxious feeling of anticipation for a big game. I think we win as TN has played five big games so far:

@ Pitt (preseason 16),
FL ( can’t recall if ranked)
@ LSU (#11 or 12 now).
Bama (top 5)
KY (#18)

Anyway, GO VOLS and I hope everyone has a great weekend regardless of outcome.

We playing with house money y’all! Let’s have some fun and enjoy the ride. (This is What I‘ve had to say to myself a lot this year… because I too suffer with the same syndrome as the OP and other fine folks on VN).
Go Vols!

I expect this team to win tomorrow. It might be by 24 or by 1 point but I expect a Vols win. This is not the past teams so it’s time to “turn the page” and believe/expect a win. If we don’t, I have full confidence in the team and coaches to finish the season strong. I am excited as this is not even the end of year 2 of CJH. Go Vols.

Now in my 5th decade of Vol Fandom, I believe that the fans take on the attitude of the players and vice-versa. I am calm and confident that this year's team is capable of winning this game. I think the team feel the same. In years past, we were hoping for a miracle. Full well knowing, it wasn't likely or reality. This team is different. I think they absolutely believe in Heupel and his genius for finding ways to score. Heupel is like AI, he learns from mistakes and gets smarter, with every one of them.

Just run the damn offense, and keep running it until the last whistle, and we will win. Everything else is just noise.

We’re playing with house money. Nobody expected us to be in this position. I trust we will play well in one of the toughest places to play in college football and whatever happens, happens. Proud of this group no matter what. Enjoy the ride!

No need to be worried about this game, both teams already have a huge win. National exposure, Game day #3, big recruiting boost, the entire nation will be watching. I estimate 30 million viewers. I can see this group plays as a team and they play loose. Who will be the heros???

“Sucked in”? What the F are ppl even talking about anymore? Win or lose this has been a great season. Even if we lose we have a good shot of being in the playoffs. Peach bowl is basically the floor for this team currently. It’s okay to be happy.

Oh btw we’re going to stomp Georgia’s ass. So put your fears to rest.

I’m on the train. But we don’t have a good playoff shot if we lose. That’s just the facts. We would need lots of help. Let’s just win tomorrow.

Unless we get clapped 55-6 or something, I won’t be dissapointed after tomorrow, I said preseason this was an 8-9 win teams, already at 8, if we could have an 11-1 regular season I’m not gonna sit here and cry about that
