TSSAA Playoff Brackets Released

I think the coaches are finally voicing their concerns and we might see some changes next year. No Knoxville 6A team got a home game. McMinn Co beats Bradley for the district title and draws Oak Ridge (7-3) while Bradley draws Cookville (6-4). I will let you decide who got the better draw. Should both win they would play each other again next friday only two weeks from their last matchup.

In 5A Antioch got a 1 seed in Quad 3 while being a 6-4 team. Gallatin, the 2 seed, has lost only 1 game. The 8 seed, Station Camp., beat Antioch in the regular season by like 30 points. WTF? Whoever designed this ridiculous format should be fired. TSSAA is stretching themselves out waaaay too thin and pretty much anyone can make the playoffs now, all in the sake of making more money.

When 5-5 is the norm for a playoff team, you need to condense. That's just insane. And the whole playing teams in your district that aren't even in your classification is nuts. The whole system is flawed, greedy and just plain stupid.

Riverdale beat Blackman by 7 without Mathers he's back so I'm taking Blackman in the second round over Riverdale.

The TSSAA said that they went to this system to cut down on the amount of travel that some teams had for region games.

Well hopefully my Franklin Rebels do well in the playoffs but they do have a tough rematch with Smyrna, though we did play Smyrna good the last time we played them and our defense has been outstanding the last few weeks.

3-7 Coffee Co. v 10-0 Riverdale. That's just an example of the crap that is TSSAA.

You can thank Mt. Juliet for that. They got tired of getting beat by Gallatin year after year when they had good football teams and did not get to play in the playoffs.

Mt. Juliet got a group of schools to join them to complain to Ronnie Carter and the Mt. Juliet Rule was created that allowed multiple also-ran teams to make the playoffs.

They finished 2nd in their district. Not only do 1st and 2nd place finishers in each district automatically qualify, they are also seeded before the remaining teams in their quadrant.

Lol you do know it was Riverdale that took Mathers out the first time right?

Yes I saw it I was at the game it will be a different story with Mathers in the game. He played 1 series and Blackman lost by 7 I like there chances with a healthy Mathers.

Total BS..Exactly what rule are you claiming is the "Mt Juliet Rule"??.Mt Juliet has been to the playoffs 5 straight years and since renewing the Gallatin/Mt Juliet rivalry again in '07-'08, Mt juliet has beaten Gallatin 3 out of 5 games...And neither of those losses kept the Golden Bears out of the playoffs..Mt Juliet didn't "get a bunch of schools to complain" about anything...There were a huge amount of schools who felt the new playoff system was flawed and their representatives let the TSSAA know it...All the changes over the past 3 years (or tweaks as the TSSAA likes to call them) hasn't benefitted Mt Juliet in the least...It has actually hurt them more than helped..They had 1 loss in '09'-'10 and had to travel to Murfreesboro to play Oakland in the first round...Not exactly a favor for Mt Juliet...And these recent playoff changes have occurred under Bernie Childress, TSSAA Director, not Ronnie Carter, ex-Director..You kinda sound like a disgruntled Gallatin Fan or maybe just somebody who posted a rumor that you thought was fact...Either way, anyone who refers to any particular seeding or bracket rule as a "Mt Juliet" rule is wrong..But I'm sure they would appreciate your trying to give them credit for making the TSSAA do ANYTHING different than what their agenda calls for...

BTW, HC Roger Perry of Mt Juliet has stated before he doesn't particularly care for the playoff format as it is but he's never attempted to get a bunch of schools to complain..And with a Career record of 252-90, 58-32 since becoming Mt Juliet's HC, I know he is old school enough to simply play the games as they are scheduled for postseason and let the chips fall where they may...

Numnuts, this took place long before Roger Perry had ever coached at the high school level.

No. 100% True. Ask Ronnie Carter and Calvin Short. Both told how it took place and both used the same language.
