Having rewatched Ken Burns The Civil War episode five, my memories of my visit to Gettysburg are keen. The ground is smaller than any imagine. The fighting had to have been so close. To have stood between the trees and the stone wall and realized that thousands filled the field and died in an afternoon is humbling.
 
finished George Harrison by Graeme Thomson, excellent and quite a bit I never knew

nice change after Thomas Wolfe marathon: particularly Of Time and the River
