TV, movies, music, Books and whatnot.

@GordonC is one of those high-school (AP?) English (history?) teachers that you pray your kids or grandkids will get. Altho he has revealed some unrelated irrational streaks here on VN.
waaay tftl;dr
hahaha Thanks on all counts, yeah all 11s and 9-11 Honors now...I gave up the dual-enrollment history gig entirely when the community colleges started being more ridiculous during a SACS evaluation year....basically told em to EABOD (because I was supposed to cover WWII without mentioning the Nazis), and word spread....I don't fit a mold, and I've been at it too long to deal with fools in administration...hahaha
My students get to read a lot of irrational authors, of course.
It's difficult to deprogram the BS that logical = correct = best (e.g., politics forum). I'm over it. Now it's time to win the MegaMillions and echo Rustin Cohle that "human consciousness is a tragic misstep." hahahaha
The key here is that the dam Internet filters for students see any site with the Nazis on it as "hate speech."
That was the second blowup with the colleges (right before my heart attack). The first one...you'll love this one...my "European Intellectual History I" class (Ren and Ref) upset some students because they (and the parents) were not aware that Catholics are, indeed, Christians, and that many Humanists were also Christians. I wasn't sure how to omit those parts. Part II was supposed to be the Enlightenment, but hahaha no way no how.

Ahh. Teaching the Renaissance and Reformation without noting that Catholicism was almost the only version of Christianity existing in Western Europe (meaning, not the Orthodox churches, etc. in the East) for what, 14 centuries or so, other than relatively tiny "heretical" groups that were immediately suppressed?

How exactly were you supposed to explain why Popes were commissioning great works of Christian art like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel? And how would you teach about Dante's Inferno, and Notre Dame Cathedral, and Canterbury Cathedral? Knowledge and information can be so annoying, I guess.

lol @teaching the Enlightenment

also lol in a sad way about the filters. My version of this was when I worked for the VA system that was headquartered in Nashville/ Murfreesboro (I was in Knoxville), and someone put porn filters on our internet access to block sites mentioning breasts and penises. Because, ya know, all that government employees do all day long is surf the internet for porn. But in human medicine, you do occasionally have to research things other than arthritis of the knee and high cholesterol.

Uber isn't the only company to make note of the "Taylor Swift effect." Bank of America recently released a research report that indicated Swift's "Eras Tour" has a similar economic impact as the Super Bowl on the towns and cities that she visits.

Mastercard similarly released a report, coining the phrase, "The Swift Lift," which described the boost in sales to local businesses that Swift brought with her "Eras Tour" performances.

The study indicated that within a 2.5-mile radius of the stadiums in cities that Swift visited, spending growth at restaurants increased by 68% per day, and spending growth at accommodations increased by 47%.

The NFL has also largely benefited from Swift's success, with Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce gaining 2.5 million followers since his relationship with the songwriter went public. After Swift attended a Chief's game in September, the team a nearly 400% increase in Kelce merchandise sales throughout Fanatics online sites.

Expats didn't look interesting and I hate...well, I don't like Nicole Kidman.

I'm rewatching The Night Agent. They're filming season 2 now. I like it.

Also The Recruit.

I'd like to watch the recruit, but I think it's on Apple, and I don't have that
