Are you ready for this? You guys should get excited. I finally get to start a prediction thread about UT basketball. You know why? BECAUSE WE ARE 34 DAYS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's do this. There are two rules here: 1) If I am too optimistic, you are probably correct. I'm drunk on the Martin-ade. 2) You may bump this when I'm completely right. I don't want to bump my own thread to show how right I am. Deal? Deal.

1) Jeronne Maymon becomes the heart and soul of the team, is the captain, and is the guy to get the team going, something this team lacked last year.

2) Jarnell Stokes is second team All-American and SEC POY with a 16/10 season, two blocks per game, and he shoots 65% from the FT line.

3) Trae Golden's scoring numbers go down.....but no worries. He shoots a better percentage and averages a better AST/TO ratio.

4) I think by the end of the year, Skylar McBee's minutes go down, and Quentin Chevious gets bigger minutes as a backup wing.

5) Yemi Makanjoula will have three double-doubles this year.

6) Tennessee beats Kentucky at Rupp on Saturday night primetime on ESPN, and Jarnell Stokes goes for 20/15.

7) Tennessee ****ing curbstomps Memphis by twenty at TBA and makes the last game between the schools in the rivalry a monster win and a good ****ing bye present to Tiger High as they go the Big East and won't have a conference in three years anyways(ignore #7, that was irrational and irresponsible).

8) Tennessee plays 18 SEC games this year, for a quick heads up. I got 14-4. That ties UT with Kentucky for first place in the SEC this year.

9) In a monster OOC game, UT beats NC State in the Puerto Rico Tip Off tourney and becomes a top 10 team after the win.

10) Austin Nichols commits to the University of Tennessee on October 22nd (had to get a recruiting tidbit here).

11) Jordan McRae becomes a good defender and attacks the basket. He is the second leading scorer for UT averaging 14 points and puts up a 42/36/85 slash line in shooting.

12) Jeronne Maymon has a solid year and goes for a nice 13/9, and goes down as one of the most improved players in program history.

13) UT leads the league in rebounds per game, and is top twenty nationally.

14) UT will have the second best defense in the league, behind Kentucky.

15) UT will struggle at first with the offense, but will pick it up and become one of the more efficient teams in the country during SEC play.

16) UT has one OOC loss: at Georgetown 11/30 in DC.

17) D'Montre Edwards becomes UT's best defender and leads the team in 3PT% with 38.7%.

18) Cuonzo Martin will be a candidate for National coach of the year and gets SEC coach of the year.

19) UT's four SEC losses: at Alabama, vs. Kentucky, at Arkansas, at Georgia

20) UT, finally, for all the love in the world, wins the SEC tournament.

21) UT goes 25-5, grabs a #2, and goes to the program's second Elite Eight, losing to Indiana.

Honestly, I feel we could beat Indiana in an Elite 8 game. They are a very good team, but I really like the makeup of our team this year.

The only thing holding us back is a late game assassin who can seal the game. I'm not confident in anyone of our players taking the last shot.

If half of these are in the neighborhood of being correct it'll be a hell of a season.

So we can beat Kentucky at Rupp ans can't beat them at TBA? This team plays defense like coach Martin has them play. We will be pretty good. If you play defense you can win on the road. I think we will beat Arkansas. And beat Kentucky at TBA.

We can go a long way in the NCAA tourney. It has alot to do with who you get paired up with. What reagon you play in and who you play the winner out of each reagon. Indiana might be on the other side and we play them in a final 4 game.

We get UK really early in the SEC schedule. I think they get us at home.

Again this is all strictly JMO.

If you think UT beats Kentucky at Rup then why wouldnt you believe UT can get it done at home? Just curious....

That's what happened in 2006, blown intentional foul call on JaJuan's steal notwithstanding (the KY player reached out and grabbed JaJuan when he had a clear path; an intentional foul call there probably means UT wins).

You explained your reasoning behind the KY loss @ TBA, but I'm curious as to why you don't think we beat the 3 highlighted teams above?

I know we have better players; however, I like McBee for three point shots.

I don't think KY will lead the league in defense.

It will be a complete meltdown for this team to lose to GA even if it's away.

Everything looks good EXCEPT # 6...... I disagree with #6. But I do miss Billy Gillespie. Wish he was still at U.K., so we can beat U.K.

With our still getting th offense in gear I expect us to lose a few OOC games. I love the optimism but I doubt we only lose one. I actually think we can beat GTown. NCSU is going to be awesome, Memphis will be tough, and we always play a few mid majors that get it done. I think 6-10 losses for this team depending on many things, but mainly health and wing production.

Great write up man! Love the optimism! Cannot wait to get the ball jumped up!
