Report -- Two Alabama coaches involved with Miami booster - ESPN

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Two first-year Alabama assistants have been accused by a former Miami booster of steering recruits to him in a story published by Yahoo! Sports.

Yahoo! quoted Nevin Shapiro on Tuesday as saying Jeff Stoutland was among coaches who brought prospects to his home or luxury suite for recruiting pitches. The story also said Joe Pannunzio was involved, citing unnamed sources.

Stoutland is the Crimson Tide's offensive line coach after holding that position at Miami from 2007-10. Pannunzio is director of football operations. He spent the previous five years as the Hurricanes' tight ends coach/special teams coordinator.

An Alabama spokesman declined comment.

In related news, Georgia tight end Orson Charles is also being linked by Yahoo! Sports to the former Miami booster.

They'll end up ruling the whole top 25 is on probation before long. They're going to nail Bama again before it's over. Someone down there just doesn't get it.

Florida has an assistant that was named as well. Same goes for Louisville. Conveniently selective on ESPN's part.

Either way, Bama won't be punished for what these guys did at Miami. They'll get a show cause order, but they'll have been fired long before that happens.

ESPN is giving more attn to a recent NC winner, and a program who has 2 of the cheaters named on staff whereas the other have one. One could be marked as happenstance IMO. But two?!

So "convenient" that you Bammers enjoy the positive aspects the notoriety of a NC brings, eg. more coverage, commercials, and then complain that you are singled out over the likes of Louisville. Cry more.

You do continue to convince me you're a bama writer though.

Florida won the NC the year before we did. Is there a statute of limitations on an NC being significant?

I love it. The NCAA is on a war path and haha to all those fan bases laughing at Tennessee. I just can't wait until Coach Cal and the kitties get it.

I don't think it's so much the NCAA is "on a warpath" right now, as lots of things are just falling into their lap simultaneously.

This is definitely going to be an interesting season, if the 'AA can even allow enough teams to play. Maybe this will be Dooley's Second Year Success. All NCAA Teams get the death penalty for a year, except for us. UT wins the NC By default. I'll take 'em anyway we can get 'em.

Go ahead and skip right over my point about them having two of them on staff, not one like the other schools.

I don't see how it makes such a big difference that ESPN chose not to even mention the other schools who have hired these guys.
