Besides catching punts I can't remember our special teams being any better (Russell) and Prentiss Wagner just got 2nd team AA and we had a ton of picks (Joseph),so I say they pulled their weight with what they had!!! Janzen had a damn good year as well!

Our pass defense was bad. 82nd of 120 teams.

Our pass defense was bad. 82nd of 120 teams.

In fairness, our pass rush was bad.

We also started two true sophomores, a freshman who hadn't played football in 4 years, a redshirt sophomore, and a redshirt freshman at various times during the season. And there was little consistency with who was in the secondary because of injuries.

I doubt there is another team in the SEC and very few in major college that has that young and thin of a secondary. Hard to put that on the current coaches.

Derek Dooley the day he accepted the Tennessee job, Jerry McGuire style had these two say "I'll come with you." but both were getting paid more and dramatically upgrading their resume.

Derek Dooley after winning 6 games with a brutal schedule and having no major off field incidents and winning some recruiting battles will have lots of very solid resumes sent his way in January at the coaches convention.

If Eric worked for 16 years with Derek instead of 16 years at North Texas, their relationship would be as close as people are making it out to be.

LV follows recruiting a lot more than I do, wish he would have given examples of Joseph killing it out there on the trail.

I have my doubts about Russell. He was brought in to coach Tight Ends and Special Teams. Last year Stocker was on the verge of being a first round pick, and really he had a disappointing year falling to the 3rd for 4th round. Special Teams needs no explanation. It was pitiful this year. I really hope he can recruit well and get his positions playing a bit better or I'd hope Dooley will be looking for a replacement after next season.

I have faith in Joseph. While he may not be the strongest position coach, I do believe he will get it done on the recruiting trail. It seems he relates with our recruits.

You do realize that Stocker's numbers are up over last year. If anything, keeping him in to block helped show off his versatility as a tight end. You know, that same argument we used for Monte last year referring to Eric Berry and his decline in productivity. If Stocker has a good combine and pro day, he will be fine in the draft. Probably wasn't going to be a first rounder anyway. The first round is reserved for tight ends with freakish ability, i.e. Vernon Davis, Kellen Winslow, etc.
