Can you explain why they mean those things?
Heh, sure.
Others have already linked the key posts (one in the Von Pearson Update thread, and the other in the Beat Florida and Alabama or Win the SEC East thread). In case you missed those two links, here are abbreviated versions:
I like Dr. Pepper.

Already got a call back...a man named Gary from the DA office....
[for full fun version, go to the link]
Shortest possible explanations:
"Call Gary" -- Volunteer08 called the DA's office, talked to a dude named Gary, got fed some pretty standard responses. BUT, coincidentally (we think), within an hour the DA's office announced they would not prosecute Von Pearson. So it LOOKED like Volunteer08 and "Gary" got VP cleared. It was a really fun coincidence of timing.
"I like Dr. Pepper" -- a VN member asks a pretty straight forward question, do you prefer A or B? And the rest of VN spend the next many posts arguing about whether A and B are mutually exclusive, or what about C, or the color fuschia, or whatever, in varying degrees of derailment of the thread's purpose.
So that's how the two memes were born this week. They're both brilliant, I think. :good!:
It originated from an argument engineervol and I had when debating Dr. Pepper vs. coffee in the recruiting forum.
Never saw your thread, utvols88, I believe you that you said you like Dr Pepper, but it's not where this meme comes from. Sorry!
