IMO there has to be a grad transfer and not just a Chryst or the kid from Maryland. We need a day 1 guy to come in and take ownership of the offense and the QB room. If he comes in and does that it will raise the standards of the guys around him and will increase the competition.AV has alluded to there being some grad transfer QBs. I think it's a good idea just to safeguard yourself without creating too much of a logjam.
But very few of those guys are on the market.IMO there has to be a grad transfer and not just a Chryst or the kid from Maryland. Charlie Brewer is not good enough to beat out Bailey. He could be depth but I doubt he would come to UT to be depth.I think we have to do something to secure either secure Brewer or the kid from UCF or someone like them. Both of those guys have played and won at a higher level than anyone on our roster.
I’d like to see the competition. I want Bailey to take the reigns or someone to, but Brewer has been a snap away from winning the Big XII and he competed against UGA in the Sugar Bowl. I think that’s a fairly impressive resume.Charlie Brewer is not good enough to beat out Bailey. He could be depth but I doubt he would come to UT to be depth.
Charlie has had a very good career here and is second in almost every career QB stat behind RGIII but personally I think he should hang it up...he has nothing left to prove. He has suffered too many head injuries and the effects showed this season as he seriously regressed and was pretty much ranked 9th in the BIG XII.I’d like to see the competition. What’s your impression @BUBear ? What do you think of Brewer?
Thanks for the response.Charlie has had a very good career here and is second in almost every career QB stat behind RGIII but personally I think he should hang it up...he has nothing left to prove. The kid has a big heart and is though as nails but it's time he takes care of his long term health.
Lots of rumors concerning Brewer portal transfer. However recent read, Sons of Saturday, "Will Baylor Transfer Charlie Brewer be the Next Starting Quarterback at Virginia Tech?" By Mike McDaniel, December 18, was interesting read. Anyone hearing same? Article also referred to some uneasiness with VT fan base concerning head coach Justin Fuentes. According to writer seems "the 5-7 record fell far below expectations." Charlie's brother Michael played there and VT did recruit Charlie in 2017. Any thoughts?

I want what’s best for team. I want a proven winner in the locker room, specifically the Qb room who can create competition amongst the other QBs. This team has been lacking leadership this season and if another talented guy coming in forces Bailey to transfer I’m not sure he’s the guy anyway. You want Brewer to come in on day 1 and take charge right?
HB isn't certain to beat out Shrout at this point. Brewer would likely beat both out unless one or both improves a lot. HB in spite of the high rating is more of a "game manager" type of QB. He has not shown elite arm talent. Shrout has a great arm but has struggled with the mental part.Charlie Brewer is not good enough to beat out Bailey. He could be depth but I doubt he would come to UT to be depth.
