TX QB Jalen Kitna (UF commit)

Is he enough of a Holy Roller to go to Liberty? Their moral standards for acceptance are the lowest, ironically.

On a pragmatic aside, with all the legal porn available to anyone needing stimulating, there are zero excuses for turning to this darkweb-type stuff that involve crimes against children and potential murders to hide guilt of the creators.
I've seen a guy I used to work with get 20 years for a single image he shared. This plea deal is reprehensible.

I think Liberty would argue that they believe salvation and redemption are truly possible. Freeze stayed out of trouble while he was there - we’ll see what he does in the real world; likewise for Salter.

Few things are worse than child porn. But if the court has decided Kitna belongs in society, I guess we have to hope that someone takes a chance on the guy’s redemption so he doesn’t end up as a threat for the rest of his life.

Forgiveness and opportunity for redemption are important parts of the bedrock of Christianity. Forgiveness is one of the most Christ-like acts a person can do for their fellow men and women.

What I object to is the court and prosecutor's leniency for Kitna in the face of heinous acts.

Do you think it is appropriate for Kitna to be in the presence of your young family members? Not mine. Online? He'll be there.

And I dislike Liberty giving bad actors who falsely speak the word of God a soft landing after their hypocritical actions.

Hugh Freeze's actions damned the players he recruited, and the university and fans who paid him to face the NCAA sanctions for the infractions he oversaw. Then Liberty gave him a job. A great job, and so the man who destroyed the football program of the people and state of MS maintained his millionaire status and was insulated from the collective pain of his own actions.

I do not believe Hugh Freeze or Jalen Kitna have completed redemption arcs. What pain has Hugh Freeze felt for his actions? none
But this high and mighty Christian left his former supporters to feel the pain of his infractions. Contrition? Just enough. He is still his own #1 fan.

Kitna? not a day in prison and just has to keep his nose clean for a few years.

And Hugh Freeze's language at Liberty was just a repeat of all the fake "look at me" Christianity he spewed at OM.
I am all for forgiveness and redemption, but you don't receive redemption when you have escaped the consequences of your bad actions. Forgiveness is free, but redemption is earned.

I agree with much of what you say Spooky. I have no idea what the court reviewed in making its decision - no question Kitna got off light and did not even have to register as a sex offender. Likewise, I agree that Freeze was a dirtbag at UM.

I was mostly responding to the criticism of Liberty for taking some personnel with low morals. They unquestionably have. But, if the school manages to facilitate a change in their lives that is a benefit for everyone. The school actively works at building character and they do impose consequences for repeated bad behavior. Ultimately, the school will be judged by the fruit that they bear. Maybe it’s just local bias, but I wish them well.

People confuse biblical forgiveness with state punishment.

Bible clearly makes it clear we as humans are to forgive and allow for redemption but also makes clear corporal punish by King Caesar’s government and old testament laws are also called for in combination…

Yeah. exactly.
Freeze was spared 95% of the consequences of his own actions, due to Liberty's willingness to ignore past behavior. And I would argue with anyone who says they did it for Christian reasons. That's crap.
Within months of his hire, he was the same "holier than thou" jackhole he had been on social media prior to being busted for solicitations and shredding the NCAA rulebook and leading OM to defend him. Liberty gave him a golden parachute, and the innocent were left to face the slaughter from the NCAA.

5 Rules from my Semester at America's Holiest University
Liberty has a hypocritical set of standards that are Spartan and merciless toward their students, yet foster financial corruption involving admin, such as the constant construction contracts awarded to board members' construction companies, and immoral people overseeing Liberty's discipline system. Falwell's well-documented "lifestyle" would have earned him enough demerits to be expelled from Liberty every 24 hours.

Falwell was worth an estimated $3million when he took over at Liberty in 2007, and today his net worth is estimated to be $100million, mostly from real estate transactions where he represented the university buying his own private real estate on the outskirts of the campus.

I am also reminded that Freeze continued to personally confront critics on Twitter and other social media while at Liberty in 2022, same as in Oxford. He personally confronted a coed on Twitter during her lawsuit accusing the university of covering up sexual assaults against the Liberty admin, specifically defending the Christian values of AD Ian McCaw. Yes, that McCaw, the AD who resigned because he oversaw the coverup of the Art Briles/sexual assault coverup at Baylor in 2016. But McCaw also faced no consequences due to being hired by Liberty. Baylor and new admin and football coaches and players were the recipients of the punishment for McCaw and Briles' actions. And, McCaw also appears to have used his past experience covering up sexual assaults to attempt to cover for Liberty University. You judge for yourself if you believe Liberty's second chance for McCaw has brought him closer to redemption.

Liberty settled the suit earlier this year in which 12 women alleged that the school “condoned sexual violence” by weaponizing the university code of conduct against them, known as the 'Liberty Way. '

Once again, Freeze impressed onlookers with his abject remorse for being insensitive to the young woman's situation, and his statement of commitment to his "accountability plan" he had been following since his hire at Liberty.

Auburn was very wise to get an agreement that bars him from personally posting on social media (Freeze denies it, but who believes him?).
Freeze is exactly the same man he was in Oxford.

The article you linked is 15 years old and written by a guy who attended for one semester as research for a book he was writing as a hit piece on Liberty. I am sorry he had a bad experience.

The people we know who have sent their kids to Liberty have been pleased with the education and culture, though it’s not for everyone.

Earlier this year, Liberty joined the long list of schools that have settled Title IX related lawsuits. One would have hoped a Christian school would have had the foresight to make changes to protect women and preclude the need for a lawsuit. They did not. They have made substantive changes.

AS far as Jalen himself, another xfer would be in his future. He went to a school that just brought in a Manning.
