the 2017 season went in the pooper, butch got fired.I did. UT should have an excellent line next year. My biggest question is how did Pittman get Cade to commit to UGA in the first place after his dad lost his pinky? Was Butch so bad that ppl are willing to lose body parts to go elsewhere?
given who will likely be the ones in the middle of hte pile....i don't think that's going to be much of a problem, no matter who the running back is.
imo, i think gray winds up with the lion's sahre of the carries. he's just too good in space, and too good at getting in to space to not have him on the field.
Ty is better than he gets credit for as an inside runner.
i think Crouch is still the option in a jumbo package at the goal line or short yardage.
i think LB is a question mark. i expect Crouch and JJP should see the filed a TON, and HT takes Bituli's role. talented youth after that. Deandre Johnson should have a real opportunity to step up too.
hell, the only two position groups we have questions on really is WR and LB and there's talent in both groups.
i think while QB is obviously huge....i just think it's huge to have HB on campus already. and i think Chaney year two for BM, JT, JG is gonna do nothing but help them....but i won't argue with anyone that says it's a question mark. i get why anyone says that.
We also need to stop assuming a guy is a bust if he doesn't perform as a freshman, because unlike the last staff, these coaches develop and guys won't peek as freshmen. We can start expecting guys to improve instead of just hoping they do.I agree with all that. One thing struck me when reading your post, however. We've gone from having maybe one option and worrying about someone else stepping up or depth to having many other choices along with the luxury of getting a kid to campus and seeing where his best fit is. Pruitt is doing a pretty good job of rebuilding this roster. We're seeing talent, numbers and options that just weren't there a year or two ago. Another year or so...if the majority of these recruits pan out...and we'll have the roster to once again compete with the better teams in the SEC. Just need that trigger man to make everything happen. One really good qb to make everything go. Hope Bailey is that guy.
oh, i think that's the single biggest thing he's accomplished so far.I agree with all that. One thing struck me when reading your post, however. Pruitt definitely seemed like a better fit than Schiano. If a coach isn’t a good fit with a school then it’s just not gonna work, like MSU and Moorhead.the 2017 season went in the pooper, butch got fired.
i get why people bag on the jones thing with Cade...but remember, Cade was committed to TN and Butch Jones for like 2 years. while i think by the end Cade saw Jones for what he was, it wasn't until the off season of 2017 and how that unfolded that he really got turned off with TN....i mean, that whole thing happened, and was a complete s**t show for a month....and you're Cade and you gotta make decision.....well, he had a good relationship with Pittman, and it's not like there was a lot at the time to be confident in at TN.....
forget who was talking about it yesterday, but there's a pretty strong feeling now, given how it's turned out, that had Pruitt been hired from the jump, and we avoided the debacle that was schiano gate, Cade likely never makes it to Athens in the first place.
so long story short....this goes in the "better late than never" category.

Next year could be huge for Pruitt and UT. If Pruitt is finishing near the top 10 in recruiting right now, then it might be top 5 next year. Who do you think will be starting at QB for UT? Maurer looked great against UGA and Bailey has potential. Have to assume it would be either of them over JG, right? You're right, UT will be the best team in the SEC this year.
And to answer your questions, Butch Jones sucks and yes.
Harrison Bailey. I think he wins the starting job this spring and JG transfers.Next year could be huge for Pruitt and UT. things can change, but JG has said at least twice publically that he's not leaving.Harrison Bailey. I think he wins the starting job this spring and JG transfers.
You're very cordial, are you really a GA dawg fan? No offense, but you post like you're from Missouri
The Marietta game in Vegas, that was on ESPN, has got me amped about HB. I know that was not SEC competition but he was awesome. I had saw some of his previous highlights and thought he looked really good, but to see him play a game, really made me a believer in the kid. I'm not saying JG can't win the QB competition but I believe Bailey is our future. (And I really liked what I saw out of Maurer but HB appears to be on another level)things can change, but JG has said at least twice publically that he's not leaving.
as for who starts....i expect there to be a 'fo real' qb competition this year.....and whoever wins it, will likely have earned it.....
The reason I think HB has a good chance to come in and be the guy right away is that at Marietta he was able to stand in the pocket, under pressure often as his line was average at best, and deliver accurate darts. Imagine what he can do with the time our o-line will give him next year. The Marietta game in Vegas, that was on ESPN, has got me amped about HB. yep. plenty of reason to be excited about our QB room. still just a lot of potential today though. but that's ok. i'm putting a lot of stock in to year 2 of Jim Chaney, for all the returning QB's and HB is as close to ready as you can probably get for an incoming freshman. The Marietta game in Vegas, that was on ESPN, has got me amped about HB.
