Just read over at VQ that Tyler Harris (Tobias's bro) is planning on transferring from NC State. He is waiting to see what coaches call before making a decision where he is going. Would we be interested? Discuss...

Don't know that we have room. Why would he be transferring? Lack of playing time? I didn't follow him that much, so I don't know if he's as good as Tobias or not, but we'd need a good reason to bump someone and sign him, especially with our current needs on the team.

I'm not as familiar with him or his game. I was hoping to gain some insight. I'm not sure why he is transferring to be honest. I saw that he is 6'7" and 197 out of HS.

just to let you know, the wife and i will be moving to the volunteer parkway in a few weeks, so we'll pretty near you there. i enjoy your posts. we don't have an open scholly right now for him, and i don't see anyone leaving as of today.

I watched a lot of wolkpack bball this year.

he didn't get a lot of playing time. he's a good rebounder, and can guard on the perimeter, but needs to add strength. he doesn't have much of any offensive game.

I think he's got good potential, but not sure we'd be the best fit for him.

Stay put young man. NC State will have a great team this fall. Work on your skill set and look to contribute when called upon. Unfortunately too many kids won't heed this advice.

Kind of have a feeling he was somewhat pushed out of NC State. With the recruiting class coming in and the players they have returning just wasn't a place for him.

He left because his daddy wanted to get him more playing time because next year he wont get much with returning players and a great recruiting class. Same thing happened when he was in high school his dad switched him to a different school because he wasn't getting enough playing time.

Would be a great pick up at a position of need. Tobias is retweeting people left and right about Tyler coming to Tennessee, so you know his brother will definitely support it,

Even if we don't have room, the Harris family is pretty wealthy(especially now) and I'm sure if Tyler wanted to come here they'd pay his schooling for a year.

IMO you definitely recruit this kid and try to get him here. Having to sit out wont be bad for him, he can use the extra time in the gym for sure. I will add, many thought out of High School he wasnt going to be good, he appears much better than originally thought.

but im guessing he didn't come to UT to begin with because Pearl got fired. However, hes possibly considering transfering to UT. Which gives me yet another reason to appreciate the job that CCM is doing!

I truly believe Martin has a true idea what he wants... If he's not smart enough to figure out we need guard help then we are in serious trouble. Every guy Martin is going after in 13' at the guard position can score. I trust Martin, and if we win some big games this coming year I think Martin can pull a top 15 class easy.

We may need post help more than we need guard help in next years class. Obviously we need improvement at both positions, but I'd say more immediate help is needed in the post.

Tyler committed to NC State while Pearl was still at UT.

It doesn't matter if the team has room or not. He can transfer wherever he wants. I am sure big bro will pick up his education if needed. :)

IIRC Tennessee didn't show too much interest, or pursue Harris all that hard. I know they weren't in his final 3 or 4 at the end as well.

I'm sure part of it was following Tobias, but I remember there being a lot of talk that Tyler quite frankly wasn't as good of a prospect as Pearl wanted.

I'd be surprised if Tyler doesn't give Tennessee a lot of consideration. It's a good opportunity, a position of need for us, fits CCM's rebound and defense style, and has a brother who will sell UT more than anyone.

Exactly what I was saying earlier. I'm not 100% on the transfer rule, do they take up a scholarship the year they sit out? I went on to say, the Harris family is wealthy even moreso now, I'm sure if Tyler wants to come to UT his family will make it happen.

Why is it that wne someone transfers people get on here and think they want to be a Vol?

Well the fact Harris was considering UT initially, coupled with the fact that his brother went to UT and recruits guys to UT, and it would appear UT will be a consideration.
