Should be a lock for preseason top 10. I know there are alot of negative Pearls out there, but UT basketball program has never been better than it is now.

Ditto on the three point shooting. Our lack of a perimeter threat probably cost Tyler a high spot in the NBA draft.

Be has had ample opportunity to overcome that issue, but hasn't. There is more to it than that.

Seriously? A second rounder came back and shoot up to top 10? We're definitely better, but we still have no PG and inconsistent post play.

He's 22, not like they are looking for potential or anything. Also, he's not a solid NBA prospect anyways. Maybe if he was great defensively, but he's not. He's a 6'6 forward without range who has just about reached his peak. He's great for college ball if he gets freed up a bit since his height disadvantage doesn't hurt him much down low in the college game.

And the addition of Tyler wont help our preseason rank much. We will stay in the 15 range because it's a safe pick. Chances are we will stay there or slip to 25 during the season at most since there's a slim possibility of us being worse than last year. The chances of us being any better though are slim since it is doubtful we become a threat from three point range. But if we do, we are top 10. And I say that regardless of PG play. I found Maze to be a good distributor with no range, but obviously some people on this board disagree. I didn't think it was his fault for the passing around the arc until the shot clock ran out and then somebody chuck up a random three. I think that was Pearl's just being bad at setting up a half-court offense.

Generally agree, but he has shown the ability to play d when he wants. I think the on again off again nature of his d effort is part of the issue.

Bottom line for me, I may get my season tix again just because Tyler is back...
Without him, NO.
He WILL most definitely be a beast this year...

Here's to sucking a little less next year, which is where I see us being with Tyler's return. I hope Tyler's decision works out for him and he can get some better opportunities next go around.

Its pretty crazy how people say that Tyler will give us a few more wins since he is coming back & they down sound excited about it. We won 21 games last year!!! 6-7 years ago almost everyone on this board would have went crazy over us winning 21 games, now its not good for some people.

Expectations get raised. It's a good thing.

I'm really going to have to pay more attention to the basketball squad next season. I've seen some of Tyler Smith, but not a lot. He's always been special to me because he's from Pulaski, Tennessee. That's where I'm originally from and it's not necessarily the biggest city around.

In all fairness, why would you pay more attention to TN basketball this season than the past two?

Tyler is all about ability,,, he is an incredible athlete. I think much of his issues are mental as you allude to with his defense and we have all witnessed several errors on simple shots on the offensive side as well. If he was more mentally focused I think he could get his game where he wants it to be.

This is a good choice for Tyler! Another years experience usually cant hurt a player, and a player like Tyler Smith is built for the NBA. I bet he'll have a great season next year, and hopefully stay healthy so he doesnt hurt his draft stock!

i'm sorry i just can't get into press conferences. peyton mannings press conf. when he was at UT was the greatest thing i ever watched in school. Unless we have another PM i don't care to watch them

No one has had the mystique that Peyton had at UT!:good!:Not sure if any one else will. Peyton did have one down fall-Florida. It's hard to beat the Gators. Would enjoy seeing it happen again and soon.:eek:k:
