Tyler Smith says threats made against son led to gun purchase

It sounds like Smith made a lot of bad decisions; I believe him when he says his son was threatened, and I can only imagine that would lead many to make some irrational choices in panic. But even still, you have to live with those decisions even if you had what you thought was good intentions (just to protect yourself and loved ones).

It even sounds like he knew legally obtaining a gun was an option and he didn't choose to do that.

It's amazing how many people pretend to know what's true and what isn't.

Most peoples fathers don't die at the age of 20.

Most 20 year olds don't have kids.

Most people in general aren't robbed and have their family threatened.

People can say what they want but nobody knows the truth and nobody should pretend like they'd know what that type of burden feels like. I guess it feels good acting high and mighty though. Nothing like throwing Vols under the bus for personal problems. Especially ones that are more of a Vol than we fans will ever be. He actually put his blood and sweat into game. The people trashing him put their fingers into their keyboard. Good job.

Tyler had some tough things happen, but he also made serious mistakes in judgement and made some terrible decisions. He is now old enough and had enough support that you can't continue to try to justify his actions on the hardships he may have gone through.

good post

there's that issue too of people seem to hold grudges against expelled athletes like what they did was personally directed at or involved the fan themselves

Mine did.

Most 20 year olds don't have kids.

I did.

Most people in general aren't robbed and have their family threatened.

We were.

People can say what they want but nobody knows the truth and nobody should pretend like they'd know what that type of burden feels like.

I'm not pretending, I lived it.

I trash him because I can. I didn't run out and buy an illegal gun, then carry it illegally and traipse across the state implicating and criminalizing my friends and teammates. I didn't get a scholarship yanked and lose my access to a free education and put my team in one helluva bad situation in the middle of their season. Then kick to the curb a chance to make big moolah in one of the most elite organizations, the NBA.

In short, he acted like a selfish, ghetto hood, got caught, and now will have to pay for it.

And get trashed. Tough :boobies:

Yeah, Tyler Smith is really roughing it right now. Making 1.2m over 2 years playing in Turkey.
