Then you're laughing at Jeremy Pruitt, imo.

Interesting, do you think he was Pruitt's choice for OC in the beginning and then things just soured, or do you think he might have been stuck with him. It sounded like CJP asked to open the change purse to go for the best staff $ could buy in the beginning, did he choose poorly, forced into it, or bought a pig-in-a-poke.

I tend to believe Helton wasn't Pruitt's first choice, but he expected better than the performance he got this season. Paying $1.2 million, he had to think Helton brought a lot more to the table than what we saw this year. All just my opinion.

Good luck to him.

Now we will see if the conservative play calling wall Pruitt, Helton, or line problems.

Pruitt

ā€œCongratulations to Tyson Helton on being named the head coach at Western Kentucky," Pruitt said in a statement. "Iā€™m grateful to Tyson for the hard work he put in this season and his help in setting the foundation for future success at the University of Tennessee. Tyson is an outstanding coach. I wish him the best and I expect he will do a great job at WKU.ā€

Fulmer

"I am very excited for Tyson Helton and his opportunity to become the head coach at WKU," Tennessee athletic director Phillip Fulmer said in a statement. "Tyson is very well prepared to make this transition and has a great pedigree. His experience will serve him well, and he'll do an outstanding job. Tyson has a great demeanor and a way with people, and his integrity is beyond reproach.

"His work ethic and people skills are tremendous. As a head coach, you have to be comfortable in any kind of situation, whether it be in recruiting or with donors selling the program, and I think he will do a great job in those areas."

We will know in 2-3 years if our problem was Helton or the "Champions of Life" that Lyle recruited.

I don't think he was his first choice and I was still shocked by the hire. You had Pruitt coming in during his hiring press conference saying we're going to get Tennessee back to smash mouth football but he hires Helton. Never made since to me.
