I can probably look it up myself, but anyone know where Helton's salary ranked among offensive coordinators in the SEC? It has to be at or near the top.
This is from 2017. I'm not sure an offensive coordinator in the SEC made more than Helton in 2018, but maybe I'm missing someone.I read somewhere that there were only like 20 or so coordinators that were in that salary range in the country. It didn't state what his salary was at USC. Since they are a private school, they don't have to disclose contract details.
Found it......Rucker: Importance of Vols' OC hire can't be exaggerated
Here's a snippet from a Forbes article. Made the same as Alabamas OC Locksley. LolI can probably look it up myself, but anyone know where Helton's salary ranked among offensive coordinators in the SEC? It has to be at or near the top.
Actually, he made slightly more than Locksley. Here's a snippet from a Forbes article. Made the same as Alabamas OC Locksley. Lol
Led By Dave Aranda And Brent Venables, At Least 18 Football Assistants Will Make $1 Million In 2018
- Florida defensive coordinator Grantham, who signed a three-year, $4.47 million deal when he followed Dan Mullen from Mississippi State to Gainesville.
- Offensive coordinator Mike Locksley ($1.2 million) and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi ($1.1 million) at Alabama, which led all programs with an assistant salary pool of $5.995 million last season.
- Tennessee offensive coordinator Tyson Helton ($1.205 million), who joined first-year Volunteers coach Pruitt’s new staff.
- Georgia raised defensive coordinator Mel Tucker’s pay from $900,000 to $1.5 million in February after helping the Bulldogs win the 2017 SEC title and play for a national title.
- South Carolina raised defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson’s salary from $750,000 to $1.2 million in January when it announced a new six-year contract for head coach Will Muschamp.
Pruitt was interviewed at Miss. St. prior to interviewing with Fulmer. Helton was his choice to be OC if MSU had hired him.I tend to believe Helton wasn't Pruitt's first choice, but he expected better than the performance he got this season. Paying $1.2 million, he had to think Helton brought a lot more to the table than what we saw this year. All just my opinion.
When was this quote from? If this is after he went to WKU this is troubling."If I'm going to be criticized, I want to be criticized for dang taking chances and trying to make plays. I don't want to be criticized for being conservative. Let's try to go win games getting after people and being aggressive." - Helton
Interesting quote I thought
