I forgot about the incident last year - no wonder there was so much security.

The dude in the orange was there again but didn't get a smack down.

Are you talking about the guy in the county road gang jumpsuit that got a facial from Pierre Niles? :eek:lol:

Priceless. Was a good game though to be at I bet.

It was good until about 3:30 to go. Then it fell apart. Vaden was a complete disaster - he had plenty of open looks he couldn't hit a thing. He missed most of his shots during the warm ups between halves too.

Delaney played his arse off as did the small point guard #1 (Johnson I think).

That's never a good sign in your own gym. What did you think of the Tigers?

Memphis looked good overall - very athletic. Very good interior defense.

One thing I noticed is they didn't appear to have a lot of assists. They move a lot but much of the offense was dribble penetration and a shot by the guy who penetrated. Seemed like too much clear out and one on one offense (just checked the box score and they had 8 assists total).

That's why it's called the dribble, drive offense. If the other team doesn't or can't stop the driver, a layup-5' shot is taken. Why would you pass to a big man in traffic when you have a 5' shot?

I'm just wondering where all the people who kept trying to tell me Doneal Mack can't play are right now.

I was one of his doubters until this year. In previous 2 years, he padded stats against lesser opponents and NEVER hit a shot when it mattered.

This year, he came back focused and has developed an effective mid-range game. While he doesn't average 14-15, he hits shots when the Tigers need them.

His defense is also much improved. I would dare say he is a better on the ball defender than CDR was. Blasphemy!

I would agree with this.

Kinnard was on fire last night. I guess he had to be to make up for Vaden's performance though.

Though Tyreke had a few good plays, he was off last night. Can't afford those types of games in March.

I like to see Dozier's aggressiveness, though would like to see more of it.

I will be very curious to see who takes over the leadership role when AA is gone next year and there are a bunch of new, young faces. I hope they come in with the same attitude as Tyreke (aka putting their egos aside).

I understand that but a lot of those were contested, off balance shots. Maybe UAB did well of defense despite the size disadvantage.

Looked to me that an extra pass would have resulted in uncontested, true lay ups.

It was a nail biter for the blue fans last night,MPS really did dig in with 3:00 min left. I can't believe they won by 11 the way that game went. The blue were sweating badly. It's over yall can relax now, till sat with SM comming to town. You better put this game behind you and think about SAT at noon. It should be fun to see if MPS lays an egg or plays hard.:hi:

It also allows the TIGERS the chance to get offensive stick backs , when the other teams bigs are coming to try to block the layup or 5 footer.

It was pretty even though on the offensive glass with each having 11 .

30 - 21 on the defensive boards though

Especially in the first 1/2, I thought the Blazers did a good job defensively and rebounding especially given the size differential. They just fell apart towards the end.

One reason why UM had more defensive rebounds was the absolutely atrocious shooting by UAB. More opportunities (also why UAB had 11 offensive rebounds - lots of rebounds to go around!).

UM looked very solid to me.

I'd have to agree with everthing you said . I would like to add I hope UAB finishes strong and makes a decent seed . If not , then there will be teams in with a lesser chance of advancing in the tournament .

I really dont want to sound like i'm bragging ( I dont mean it that way ) but AAs defense on Vaden contributed to some of UABs defensive woes. :peace2: JMO

I think you meant offensive. And yes, not many teams (as a whole) have good shooting nights against Memphis.

You obviously have not watched this team the last 4 years. They will, and always, play hard.

As far as those gutterbugs from Hattiesburg go, this will be a "lock up the women and children so they don't see the massacre" type of beat down. Eustachy and company said after their game against UAB last week that "UAB had a better starting 5 than Memphis" and that UAB was a "better team." Tigers won by 25 in the Burg 2 weeks ago. This could be a 40 pointer tomorrow.

The players (Memphis) were talking about that today. It's just motivation to lay the smack down even harder Sat.

I am wondering if it is even going to be worth getting out in the Death Blizzard 2009 tomorrow.

Hell, my power has been out for the last 15-20 minutes because of the storm. Sucks.

Yeah that storm did suck. My lights flickered and I heard my generator kicked on for like 3 or 4 mins then I guess Entergy fixed the problem. This weather is crazy around here, only in Memphis. I think im still going to go still not sure.
