Evidently, everyone got the same memo. Driving today heard two commentators (Boortz was one) referring to the Somali pirates as Muslim pirates, or "Islamic goons." And then bitching that Obama, the Secret Agent Muslim, was treading lightly because of that. What utter garbage. These guys have been doing these pirate and hostage raids for a decade and no one has ever claimed it was terrorism or political.

It is terrorism in a sense. This is a growing problem as it has become very lucrative for the Somali pirates though. Estimated at around 80 million paid out for ransom last year.

I didn't think it would be wise for Obama to speak out about the situation while Americans were in harms way. His hand will be forced to address the problem at greater depth by all the coverage of the piracy going on around the Somali and Yemeni coasts.

I'm sure if there was a way to track the funds you would find that the vast majority does go to fund terrorist activities though, of that there is little doubt.

while LG's OP isn't worth responding to, I will direct his attention towards that fat buffoon Ed Schultz.

Not sure I'd call Boortz your typical "uber-right, fear monger". He's got a different angle from hacks like Hannity, Savage etc.

I agree with that. I could actually listen to him from time to time...I could also listen to Savage occasionally because I was just waiting for him to finally lose it and murder a caller.

Boortz became my hero the night that he got under Bill O'Reilly's skin so bad that O'Reilly called him a "vicious SOB" on the air.

it makes you wonder about the mainstream conservatives when you consider how they generally don't consider Savage to be one of the cool kids.... imo, his show is the most entertaining and informative next to Rush's. . . that next level of Ingrahams, Boortzes, Larsons, etc. gets old pretty quick

Savage is informative?

he provides a great deal of historical perspective that others don't. . . a lot of his show is bombast and hyperbole. . . e.g. one day he's gonna form a new political party, and the next day he's gonna leave radio :post-4-1090547912:

So why do you bother to listen???

Evidently they were successful in upsetting you.

What do you call Somali pirates, freedom fighters???

They are practicing islam by extracting a muslim dhimmi tax on infidel ships sailing through their waters, nothing new there, we fought two wars with them two centuries ago over the exact same thing.

Those who can't remember history are condemned to repeat it.

Clinton was the one to screw the pooch in Somalia and now we are reaping the rewards of his sorry policy.

You do have to admit Obama has taken a rather submissive posture toward islam, has he not??

I need to find the photos of Bush holding hands with the Saudi prince as they took a stroll. All US presidents have to kiss some Saudi butt. Its called oil.

That has a lot to do with his being a blithering idiot and a drama queen.

I don't mind the bow - I find the vehement denial that it was bow as disturbing though. Fess up.

Which is worse, holding hands or trying to go down on a Saudi prince?

I don't really care about the bow because when you have cameras on you all day, you are bound to do some stupid stuff. But to try to deny it is ridiculous. Does he think the American people are that stupid.

Boortz is no way Uber-right. I did not hear Boortz on the radio but this is what he wrote in his blog. I assume it is similiar to what you heard.

WEAKNESS OR STRENGTH

The United States tells them not to do it. The useless United Nations tells them not to do it. They do it. It has been five days since North Korea launched a missile capable of reaching Hawaii. What is America's response? What is the international response? The silence is deafening. What are we showing here? Weakness or strength?

The mad man that runs Iran is bragging that they now have 7000 centrifuges up and running making enriched nuclear weapons-grade fuel. He also brags that they have developed a technology that enhances the enrichment progress. At the same time the Iranian president continues to say that Israel's days are limited. In the meantime Vice President Joe Biden warns Israel that they had better not even think about attacking Iran. No strong warning to Iran. What are we projecting here, strength or weakness?

The Islamic pirates continue to hold an American hostage off the coast of Somalia. We're talking, not acting. So far I have not heard about any search for the pirate mother ship and there's no talk of blockading Somalian ports. The pirates may well end up with millions of dollars and safe passage to Somalia where they will release their American hostage. Strength or weakness?

The American the ragtag Islamic pirates are holding tried to escape. He dove out of the boat and into the water and tried to get away. Our Navy was standing off and not close enough to help him. The Islamic pirates overtook him and took him into custody again. This man tried to escape in full view of American forces. They were either unable or unwilling to help him. Perhaps the American Captain thought that when he was out of the pirate's boat the Navy would blow them away. Didn't happen. Strength or Weakness?

America - once strong, now cowering.

Change you can believe in?

You'd think we could train 10 or so snipers to fire in unison to kill the captors. I know there aren't 10 of them but doubling up is always better.

True, his denial is much worse than the offense in this case. No big deal he made a mistake, just admit it and be done with it.

I thought about that to. The problem as I see it is that in order for a sniper team to do it's job without collateral damage they would have to have a stable platform to shoot from, not something available at sea.
