UCI at Tennessee Game 1 Thread - 5 PM - ESPN3/SECN

I heard before the game the situation with Martin DH'ing was just to hold the spot to be able to make the decision when that spot came up. Martin wasn't going to play tonight no matter what bc he his starting game two so it wasn't an issue of wasting a player.

I've never seen it before but the more I thought about it the more I liked the idea

Vandy often does this with their pitchers, and when the situation comes up they decide who they want to send up to bat.....pitcher can still pitch and the right DH is used. Does it work? Who knows but I like the idea too.

This is pretty interesting. This could become a trend.
