UF talent discussion (split)

Please...............8-5 is recent success? we lost last year to Mississippi State..........at home.........on homecoming.

We go to FSU and get boatraced. We go to Alabama and get embarassed on national TV.

We are a shell of what we were 3 years ago. Even you guys have to admit that.

I guess Tim Tebow was pretty much the sole reason for your success then? UF was pretty much unstoppable a couple years ago.

UF fans crying about depth issues and talking about being "down" is downright hilarious :eek:lol:

I imagine from a UT perspective it's difficult to shed a tear for UF's recent "down" season.

But make no mistake....UF is down. We won't know the direction of our program under Muschamp until 2012 and beyond, not unlike you guys and Dooley.

UF should not have QB issues this year. Brantley with Driskell backing him up and Weis as an OC. There shouldn't be any issues. The offense as a whole maybe, but not so much the QB position.

i doubt talent is really a problem when addazio is running your team things just look worse then they really are

QB is the big question mark but even if brantley sucks we got 2 kids that will be in competition ready to go out there and win the job

Murphy looked better than Brantley in the spring game, but I'm not sold on any of our QBs.

Exactly my point LW. UF is down and anyone who thinks this UF program is even a shell of the program from 3 years ago is being dishonest with themselves.

Does anyone on the UF team scare opponents the way they did 3 or 4 years ago? I think not.

You guys had the best recruiting class ever 2 or 3 years ago right? I think it was half hearted poor coaching last year and I really expect a change of blood to make an impact from the get go. I think you guys will be competing with USCe for the east this year as much as it hurts me to say that, but all I can hope for is that UT steps up and is on the same level within a couple years.

Florida won't be competing for the East after their 6th or 7th game.

I am just saying that the talent is there, I think there was more than we will ever know going on with Urban Meyer and he wasn't doing a great coaching job. If Muschamp is infact the right guy for the job then he will have them competing again with the top of the pack this year or next at the latest. Again I hope the blow as much as the next vol fan but there is talent on the roster.

I aint gonna poor mouth.

Talent aint a problem. 2010 had nothing to do with talent. One of the big problems on the season was the o-line, you know, the unit with 3 members drafted at the nfl draft thus year.

If people mentally know what they are doing and there are no "issues" florida will be able to play with most anyone.

As weird as this must sound, you can't play football as badly as florida did and win 8 games if there isn't plenty of talent.

A less talented squad that plays the game in the same manner would be lucky to win 4 games

I understand what you're saying, and yes, 2010 was more about a lack of coaching than talent. But it's hard for me to be all fired up about this season. I'll be at just about every game yelling my head off, but my expectations haven't been this low since before Spurrier arrived in '90.

100 % agree, especially re offensive line. I have said many times, both here and elsewhere, that last year's offensive line was probably THE most disappointing unit of any Florida team that I can remember since first becoming a fan in the early 80s. Their complete ineptitude at times was just mind boggling given the talent they had there.

Of course. There are so many unknowns and this is the first season (other than the zook years) where a chamionship is an unrealistic expectation (backing up many points by vol fans on this thread....boo hoo for florida)

Bottom line, I don't have any desire to trade rosters with anyone in the sec east.

I would love to have certain players like lattimore, jeffrey, etc, etc, etc.

But, I wouldn't trade florida's 85 for anyone else's in the division

I would describe my expectations for this year more as confused than low. You look at the skill players and scratch your head as to the lack of production last year and wonder whether its just not there. The defense should be one of the best in the country. Can they put it together on offense? That was the question after a few games last year. Still is.

I think Florida can win the east this year as well. The east is down, and Georgia (my earlier pick to win the east) is hurting in many ways. It's USCjr, or Florida, with UT having a very remote chance IMO. Florida is a bit down, but not as much as the trolls are letting on.
