I never bought into Brock at all. I understand the one ko stuff. But he still hasn't fought all the top guys. Tough to go 12-1, but what are Cormier, Browne and JDS's records? Pretty similar. I'll reserve my judging of Cain till he really cleans out the division like a GSP or Jones.
Cleaning out the division isn't the same for heavyweights though imo. That's the one division where it's always going to be a toss up. Guys like Jones, Silva, GSP haven't existed because of the parody. They're just too big for anyone to be that superior. No matter how good you are, every single fighter has knock out punches. Whether it's standing or ground and pound. You can be as tactical as you want but you can't overpower fighters the way top fighters in other divisions. They're all too big and strong.
That's kind of why I bought into Lesnar. He ended up with whatever the problem was. An infection? I don't know. But before that, he was the guy to charge and plant them. He knew how to wrestle on top of it. As we saw, that doesn't exist in the heavyweight division. I think Cain is the closest we'll get to someone who can dominate people. He's smaller but appears to match up physically. He can wrestle and has knock out power. He's quicker than everyone. He just seems superior at the moment and in that division, I'm impressed.
