Why bother. CM is done. He just needs to stick to making crappy whiskey or be a regular in the prelims against other washed up fighters. Maybe he can have a trilogy with Cowboy then call it a career. He had no shot against Dustin. They could fight another 10 times and CM might...might get a lucky shot in the first and win one of them. Glad he finished his career on his arse yapping BS like he always does. Perfect ending for him.

Cowboy really had a better career than Conor, except for those Belts (which is probably the trump card, although it came easy), definitely a longer run of excellence. He just seemed to always choke, when he had his shot at the belt. Still, Cowboy should have retired way before the Conor fight.

He's not done, he just needs to return to fighting the guys that pose the least threat to him. No more elite opponents who will dominate him on the ground or somebody who is going to attack his legs. I never understood going for Poirier. I think he just thought "I beat this dude before and this will help me move up the rankings" and then lost, and his ego got in the way and did it again. He should have never taken fight 3 (until down the road, maybe). That's 2 straight fights where his legs didn't hold up. The number of dudes he can have a favorable matchup against is diminishing, but it's still possible for him to make a run. He should stay the hell away from a 4th fight with DP. Diaz III is the matchup, but there hasn't been a III because he doesn't want to lose. He's happy to say he won the most recent one, even tho his face got bashed in.

Right now, if he could go back down to Featherweight (which I doubt he can), a lot of the guys at the top would be good matchups for him. If he's ready to fight again in 1.5 years, the top of lightweight might look completely different.

He's only 32 and he hasn't taken a ton of head damage, so he should have another 5 good fights in him.

Either he's stupid or a liar. Why would he be leg kicking if he has stress fractures? And are the stress fractures from the first fight?

This. Against khabib it was “me foot was a balloon”. Then it was “I only count knockouts. Submissions don’t count. Whoever shoots first is a bi***.” Then he proceeded to shoot first and go for a submission in the rematch, now he had stress fractures before the fight. Dudes washed up and his act is old/annoying. I don’t even find his legacy that impressive to be honest. Aldo, Alvarez, and Holloway early look good. 1-2 vs poirier, 1-1 vs Diaz, mauled by khabib. Did he ever even defend a belt?

I don't think he did. I believe he was stripped of both belts he had without ever defending them.
