Are you forgetting the Bamas, the Clemsons, the OSUs, the Miamis, Auburns, etc?

Unrealistic expectations are poison for a program. If it was as easy as wishing, everybody would be doing it.

Spare me the condescension. This is UT, buddy. Top 5 classes are expected.

If they don't happen then what? We endure another one of those embarrassing coaching searches again? Taggart at FSU, is an elite recruiter in a state that produces a crazy amount of talent, Dabo is elite and is very good at whatever he is selling at Clemson, Kirby is very good and as of today has the number 1 class for 19 committed, Richt is a top recruiter who can sign a top 5 class within walking distance. UT is at a huge disadvantage of all those schools because of instate talent, overtaking any of then is a pretty tall order.

Oh, man. I DID forget about Bama, Clemson, OSU, Miami, Auburn, Georgia, etc. THANKS GUY.:shakehead:

There are many, many wise UT fans on here who roll their eyes when you predict a NC in 2 years when your team didn't win a SEC game this season. That's a pretty big jump. Not saying it couldn't happen, but there are lots of teams vying for SECE, SEC, Playoffs, and NCs. You're not playing air.

I certainly don't mean to create unrealistic expectations. It just seems that, on its face, UT's situation next year with a full staff and full year of recruiting in a state with a TON of local talent, could yield similarly insane results, given a few other things go our way, of course. Fingers crossed.

UGA has some built in advantages including twice or three times the talent TN has in state. That does allow TN to go into Ga for some of these players but right now, the elite in that state are going to UGA. 2019 is an enormous year of top talent in that state. If Tn can continue to grow talent instate like they have the past 5-7 years, things look bright. Just have to keep that talent home, imperative to keep 70% of the top 10 home. In the past, TN wouldn’t have 10 players that was 4 stars, would be about 8 deep, that is changing so those elite have to stay home. The Higgins, Mays, Rogers will have to be priority for Pruitt, and they will be. He is already well grounded in middle Tn, he just needs to build a fence and keep out OSU, UA, UGA, CU, etc.

That’s first step, win a few they shouldn’t and let momentum take off. Talked to my buddy (who is a recruiting analyst) and he told me GA might have more blue chips than any State next year, said UGA would have to fail not to be top 3, they are already #1 in 2019 with 3 of the top 8 players committed. Top 3 in recruiting next year could be Bama Tn and UGA. Second step is knocking the lid off the program, he has to get Tn back to ATL, win or lose the SECCG. Kids today do not remember or care about something that happened over a decade ago. Do those two things, sky is the limit for TN.
