Something to keep an eye on during our game. We've got a pretty quick tempo too.

possible new rule for next season. 5 yard penalty delay of game on the defense. #34 intentionally fainted.

I hate players that do that. I'm so glad those puppies got beat last night

No real way to enforce this. Hopefully Tennessee makes some teams do it.

How would you prove the injury was faked? A better rule would be to implement a rule that a player who is helped from the field by the training staff can't return until the next series.

Didn't the nfl address this when the giants did this? NCAA should follow suit.

Taking dives and faking injuries is what pisses me off about soccer! Please don't allow my favorite sport - college football - to turn into a sissified version of soccer!

Yeah I'm wondering how they could really prove a player is faking an injury?

This has been happening since forever and it won't stop anytime soon.

I think it is justified. If an offense hurries up to make you tired, then you should be able to slow it down. What makes one justifiable but not the other. The trickery in trying to confuse or tire the defense? Or the deception in trying to gain time?

Ummm...how is trying to tire the defense trickery?

Your comparison makes no sense. An offense speeding up is not comparable to a defender faking an injury. One takes practice, skill, timing, etc.

The other takes lying.

While I know this goes on, comparing it to what the offense is doing makes no sense.

5 yards isnt enough, automatic 1st down, imo.

But like others have said, no way to enforce it. It happens a lot more than people realize.

The only thing that's going to stop this is having the "injured" player sit out for a specific amount of time rather than just 1 play. If the dive costs you 10 or 15 minutes to have the player taken into the medic room and cleared to rejoin the game it would certainly slow this crap down a bit.
