Anyone thinks that if Georgia goes 0-2 to open the season this would be Richts last in Athens. If so, do you think we can get recruits out of Georgia like we did in the 90's or has Alabama and Auburn beat us to the pie?

I'd lean towards it being a possibility, but their schedule is so favorable that they realistically could go 9-1 in their last ten games with a loss to either Tennessee or Florida. 9-3 and their best season since the disappointing '08 campaign and 17 starters returning next season wouldn't get him fired.

I think it won't be long...next year at the latest, before Dooley is mining Georgia. There will always be the "born & bred Georgia" players, but Dooley will find the hidden gems, and those who understand what a huge difference a head coach can make in player development.

I see Dooley being a "go find the rough diamonds" type coach. He'll do well east of Nashville; western NC; Georgia; Virginia, South Carolina, and maybe even Florida and Kentucky. But their gift will be finding those unpolished gems in the lower 48, and signing them.

With an emphasis of "character over stats", Dooley and staff will recruit, and develop, a team that will win...and represent UT very, very well.

I like this guy. He's learning hard lessons about what it means to coach at this level, but those lessons will pay off down the road, and soon I believe.

Go Vols.

You can win the Big East with that recruiting philosophy, but if you can't get elite talent, you can't win the SEC. Period.

LOL, still can't let it go. Even if Richt were to be fired there would be plenty of coaches waiting for a phone call.

Exactly. All the horses are awaiting gigs, which is why UF got freaking Muschamp and ND got Brian Kelley.

they will start 0-2, but will finish strong because of their weaker western conference schedule. yeah, we'll be getting more recruits out of there with or without richt, if we win 8 or 9 games this year.

I'm gonna be honest never thought I would have to say this as a Tennessee fan. Florida (Muschamp & Weiss), Alabama (Saban & Smart), Georgia (Richt & Gardner) South Carolina (Spurrier & Lattimore #21). Tennessee (Dooley) we do not have that 2nd wow factor to attract big time recruits. Neyland stadium is not the factor it once was in college football, kids always say they like the facilities, kids do not want to seem to come to UT to be the next Al Wilson, Peyton Manning, or Eric Berry. I thought that once Meyer left we would be ok but no they had to hire Weiss and Muschamp. We need someone else in the east to leave our best option is for Richt to be fired. Hell UK and Vandy are on our asses.

That's what we thought.

With all due respect, this is a different situation.

You guys hired Lane Kiffin. This guy crapped all over you guys. He then left for his dream job and left you with investigators checking you guys out. That alone was the main reason you guys ended up with Dooley. Several coached turned your offer down.

Maybe, but we had a long list of guys we, as fans, thought we could get before settling for Kiffin. Coaches waiting in the wings is never a guarantee. The timing has to be nearly perfect.

Would be nice to see UGA start 0-2. They would have plenty of choices for a new HC if Richt were let go though. Not to mention, a lot better choices than we had

Florida, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia all recruit themselves not to mention they've had success lately and have outstanding Recruiters. I believe in UT football and CDD but I do not think we can win the east with character guys we have to have some 5*s. The last 5 National Champs have come for the SEC because of the elite talent level. I don't care that Mark Ingram was a 2* or 3* he had a hell of a coach in college and talent all around him. We do not have either. Dooley came from LA TECh not Michigan State and NFL (head coach). Kids are too young to remember the glory days on the hill, which is another reason we are suffering. They see UF, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, USC, Texas, and Ohio St. as the best programs. We were last releavent in 07 and we made to SEC championship game by defeault.

Even if uga goes 0-2, they still have a good chance to win the east with their easy schedule. If ga doesn't win the east could mean trouble for cmr, but I doubt they fire him without having someone else proven lined up. All they have to do is look at TN at what COULD go wrong when you fire a coach.

All teams have high points and low points. I'm hoping UT is experiencing its worst low point for a long time right now. We will be up again and hopefully sooner than later.

Muschamp & Weiss have yet to win an SEC game. Saban and Smart, okay. Richt? Are you serious? What has he done in the last three years, except a Fulmer remix? And take away Lattimore (which SEC defenses will do this year, with Garcia absent at QB), and Spurrier will be lucky to win 7...again.

And UK and Vandy are on our ass? Stop eating the mushrooms you find in front of your single-wide, hoss. What are UK, and Vandy's, record against UT over, say...the last 25 years? Stretch it out to 26 for UK.

Next time...do some research. Check a few facts. Look at some -vs- records. Please.

Go Vols.

Yeah. Football is about cycles and I will be happy when our cycle is over. 2012 has to be the year, that 2010 class will all be Jrs.

Isn't Garcia coming back...again? Or am I mistaken?

Meyer left Muschamp and Weiss an awful lot of talent in Gainesville. Richt recruits well. We do beat them from time to time. Spurrier has the Gamecocks on the rise recruiting and they also have the best WR in the nation Alshon Jeffery. South Carolina schedule is easier than UGA's. Kentucky 3 bowl last 3 seasons, just said they were catching up. I'll give you Vandy. Just the facts!
