How many starters do yall have returning on both sides of the ball?

6 on offense 5 on defense but the losses in the defensive corps are going to be especially impactful, Winston Guy (who made a living out of getting beat in the secondary before last year) and Danny Trevathan were both great players on defense last year and they’ll be missed. The weakest part of the team is going to be the secondary, so that’s bad news for us when we face Bray/Hunter in November. They have the potential to score if they can figure out which QB they’re going with (they have two good options – both underclassmen) and if they can keep their RBs healthy. They return most of their WRs, including LaRod King who had a good year last year. Both lines were impacted by graduation (O more than D) but neither one should prove the strongest or weakest part of the team this year. I see us winning 4 or 5 and Joker leaving after this year.

4 or less and he's gone for sure. 5 makes it hard to fire him if he's competitive. 6, and we're with him for 3 more years.

Maybe, I think Joker can be a good coach I don't think we've seen his best work yet. He beat USCjr and UT (sorry present company) but the bowl loss 2 years ago stings as does last years's loss to UofL...I wish the best for Joker, hopefully I he gets it done at UK.

Beating UT was a big moment for Kentucky and all, but everyone, including diehard UK fans, knows we were garbage. I don't know how much slack Joker should get for doing that. Yeah, he was the first one to do it since 1984, but let's be honest with each other. That game was a major cripple fight. :)

It felt like watching two ruhtards headbutting each other with helmets, until one finally passes out and the winner is left standing.

Now imagine a whole season of that for us.

Dooley may have not found the gas pedal, but then again, he inherited a yugo. Joker inherited a roster that was in better shape than the one Dooley inherited as hard as that is to believe.

I think we'll all know what the future holds for both coaches after this year. I think if key players don't get injured again, Dooley will be back for at least one more year. And one year of going 8-4 (which I think he'll probably do) doesn't mean he's safe for a few years. Joker is done after this year and would've been after last year if not for the UT win.

That's 100% true but with the near misses since 2007 it was huge to finally win. Some folks may not understand this (or believe me) but it is the truth: I was actually more excited in the moments after the UT game than I was after the NCAA championship game. I know I’m in the minority here but I was pleased after we won no. 8 but it was more relief than excitement. Part of it could be that I was at the UT game and not at the other but I honestly was more excited in the minutes after the UT game than the championship game. I don’t enjoy the tourney, especially when you’re favored to win. Every game made me nervous and I was overjoyed when we won but not excited like I was when UK beat UT. Part of that could also be because I was there in 2003 (?) when we had LSU beat and then didn’t. I’ve also been at many UT/UK games where UK had a great chance to win and didn’t so when they won without a QB – cripple fight or not it was great to see.

Where does it rank in terms of all time UK wins?

I'm only 27 so I don't have the frame of reference other guys do. Beating then number 1 (and eventual national champion) LSU (on a 4th and 1) will be my number one. I also enjoyed when Steevie got loose against UofL and Spurrier's face when he got beat was priceless. For me it’s a top 5 win but there aren’t too many big wins to pick from. It may also mean more to me since I live in Tennessee, a UK fan living in Louisville may have a different opinion.

Stevie got loooooose!!!

My favorite part in the LSU game was the hit Dickie Lyons Jr put on that kid coming over the middle. Holy hell.

That looked more like shock than anything on his face. I was more surprised Ky didn't win in 2010 than in 2011. They actually had an offense. Somehow, they kept letting Moore get loose. UT's last 3 graduating classes will have produced some of the worst overall talent in the history of the program. It was bound to happen sometime.

Couldn't agree more, figured the above mentioned years would have cashed in before last season.

It was gonna happen sooner or later. UK always played their best game against UT, but will you ever beat UF again? UK just lays down for UF without a fight.

No one did honestly and I said all along that Ky would probably win when no one expected it. I'm sure the UT players didn't expect it. They had been able to show up for the most part over the years and talent eventually pulled it out no matter how flat they were. Last year they didn't have the talent to overcome their incompetence and uninspired play and they had too many injuries not to mention the coaching was subpar.

If Bray, Hunter and Rogers are healthy, I'll be surprised if they don't put up 40+ this year on Ky. Ky is going to be bad. If they have injuries to key players too, they'll be abysmal. The Louisville game will give everyone a pretty good read on where both programs are at the start of the season.
