Too bad we don't have drunk Bama fans to greet him. :)

Historically Vandy & UK are coaching graveyards. Occasionally they get to 6,7, or 8 wins, predict great things and soon drop back to bottom of hill.

What good coaches have we ever had (except Bear) that we could consistently have the chance for 8 wins? Brooks? Maybe. I think things will definitely change now.We have a couple qb's that we'll have to develop but if we get a good oc we could immediately get 7 wins and recruiting after that should only get better.

This Stoops presser is surreal. Rap music blaring out of the speakers, fog at the entrance...like a party. #StoopaLoop

I concur. Brooks had laid a semi-stable foundation n then we follow that up with tweedle dum

Bmac, how does that compare around the sec? I'm sure it's lows, but I was just curious

It is lowish comparatively speaking, but a big raise from what Joker was making.

It doesn't include radio/tv, endorsements, and incentives.

update on the contract:

Stoops gets $100,000 for each SEC win, starting with the 2nd win each season.
He'd get $200,000 for playing in the SECCG, and $200,000 for getting us to a BCS bowl. $50,000 for a regular bowl.

But the thing that sticks out is the $100K per SEC win.

I guess we're really going for wins in the sec conference after going like 1-15 the last two years iirc.

Well, yeah. That's kind of the point.

We made a living on beating 4 patsies plus Vandy and MSU to eke into a bowl. Time to make some noise in the conference.

I think next year we have a good chance of 4 games in the sec. Add 4 out of conference games and we get 8 wins. Of course, it could go either way. We have a tough schedule next year with UF, USC, and Bama all in a row. But we do get UT and Mizz at home.

And how many SEC wins do you think he will accumulate next season? :birgits_giggle:

I didn't think you could pay a bonus on a per-win basis. I thought bonuses were limited to things like titles and bowl appearances. Obviously, I thought wrong.

I don't think it's right for a coach to pocket an extra 100k after each win, when the players are just getting scholarships.

I'm not putting down the hire at all. I'm just surprised a contract can be written like that.

Another side note, UF just hired Joker to be our WR coach. We are really happy with the hire. Good luck with Stoops, hopefully he is more like Bob and less like Mike.

It's innovative, but it's an incentive bonus, which have always been a part of coaching contracts.

The hate is Strong in this one. :p

With so many great rivalries in the South, the genuine, old-fashioned hate between your 2 schools is often overshadowed regionally.

I woudn't piss on Louisville if it were on fire.

Unless I somehow were able to piss gasoline.

The rivalry gets lost in the south mainly because it is hoops driven. Football hate is just a side effect.

Most I know hate Duke more than big brother in Louisville.
