Update:

C.J Leslie says that he didn't say what they said he said.....lol

The big news yesterday in the world of UK recruiting were the statements by Doron Lamb and CJ Leslie that there would be 5 people leaving for the NBA out of the UK underclassmen. The statements were dissected by fans, hoping that they meant the Seniors and two other guys, but when Doron Lamb said that there would be “9 guys leaving total”, it seemed to end all doubt. But today via CJ Leslie’s Twitter, we get a new statement:

I never said coach cal said that 5 players r leave n. I said I know that 5 r leave n based on what I saw.

So according to Leslie, it was his view of the guys and their draft status, not a comment from Calipari that led to the news reports. Below is a video of Leslie’s comments and you can judge for yourself. But it would be interesting for me to see if something changed Leslie’s mind, or if we can have another day of useless speculation. Either way, it is something to talk about as we get ready for the McDonalds game tonight.

Trust me, I fully understand that Cousins playing ahead of him is a huge impact on things....but when did a 6'10 body with 3.4 PPG, 3.3 RPG in 13 minutes per game as a freshman automatically equal one & done? (Orton)? I understand this is going to be a heavy underclassmen draft coming up, but is he really NBA ready?

Yeah, its certainly not the norm. However, I can say that its not "self Idealized" notions that he is ready. They have heard from several scouts that teams are interested enough to make him a mid to late 1st round pick.

He showed flashes of offensive prowess, and his defense is solid. Perhaps they think they can mold him quickly. Hopefully its not another case of the Greg Oden curse.

I think he should stay another year and try to crack that top 15 area, but what do I know.

He has an NBA body and size. They assume he can overcome having the brain of your average 4 year old.

According to some UK sites, the number is likely 7 leaving now. Dodson is going to the NBA(yeah right, maybe in round 7) or transferring and Hood is likely transferring.

Now it appears we will have a war of words with family members of the players stepping in and talking. Daniel Ortons father below:

In terms of dysfunctional stories, this one has to rank towards the top. First came a report from Jerry Tipton that Daniel Orton would be testing the NBA draft waters and would not hire an agent. Fair enough. But then came this statement from Daniel Orton on the subject:

I have not declared for the NBA Draft. I’m currently weighing my options and will make a decision prior to the deadline

Ok, so we hear that and assume that Orton and his father simply arent on the same page and that soon all will be worked out. But then comes a story from Larry Vaught in which Orton’s dad says that Daniel was dropping out of school and moving to California to train for the draft. He then makes some other quotes that are…well, not all that “team-oriented”:

“if Daniel has a good workout, he might be a top five pick…If he had played more, he would have made DeMarcus look bad”
Ouch. So what have we learned? Nothing…except that Larry Orton has an extremely high opinion of his son.

Wow.

It's not just at UK but it's funny these guys are considered student athletes.

With Dodson and Hood leaning toward leaving, Cal had better starting tossing out more schollys. It is possible that Miller and/or Liggins could receive a favorable draft projection. If that were to happen, Josh Harrellson would be the only returning player. That is insane.

That me be the case, but that may also be a smoke screen. David Douglas was saying for weeks that Aaron had no intentions of leaving UT in any capacity. Now he is off of the team and probably transferring. We'll see because I had heard rumors that his dad was contacting schools about possible interest.

Not sure about the rest, but Cal said Wall never missed a class and had the highest GPA on the team?

I bet he scored highly on all his Tests, including SAT, as well, right?

Cal could tell me the sky is blue and the grass is green and I wouldn't believe a word that greasy-haired, snake-oil selling, unethical and lying weasel said.
