There wasn't either when Bama plucked Saban away. A good AD makes things happen. Hart is a perfect example of the Peter principle.

Yeah, I guess we needed cousin Eddie to bring Gruden in to Knoxville all chained up with a big orange bow on him.

I am glad Gruden, Gundy and Strong turned away from Tennessee....as a writer said "Tennessee got lucky with the Butch Jones hire....so what if he was the 3rd choice, he should have been the 1st on the list"!!

Says alot about our AD but this guy has been successful!!

Tennessee needs a Tennessee AD!!

We don't need a booger picker for a Chancellor!!

Merry Christmas everyone and may all your dreams come true in the New Year!!

Are you sure? A short course on mucophagy:birgits_giggle:
"In the scientific and medical communities, the technical name for using one's finger to extract boogers is rhinotillexis, and doing so compulsively is termed rhinotillexomania. The act of eating the resulting harvest is called mucophagy.

There is an Austrian doctor who has gained notoriety by advocating the picking of one's nose and the consumption of the resulting bounty, particularly in children. Dr. Friedrich Bischinger, a lung specialist working in Innsbruck, would have us believe that people who pick their noses with their fingers are healthier, happier, and more in tune with their bodies. His argument stems from the notion that exposing the body to the dried germ corpses helps to reinforce the immune system. The good doctor feels that society should adopt a new approach to nose-picking, and encourage children to take up the habit.

Dr. Bischinger has been quoted as saying (in an Austrian accent), "With the finger you can get to places you just can't reach with a handkerchief, keeping your nose far cleaner. And eating the dry remains of what you pull out is a great way of strengthening the body's immune system." He then added, "Medically it makes great sense and is a perfectly natural thing to do. In terms of the immune system the nose is a filter in which a great deal of bacteria are collected, and when this mixture arrives in the intestines it works just like a medicine."

That should put all of this to rest, or, should it?

The only thing he has proven so far is that he comes across personable. The feeling from his old players were they loved him. That is quite the opposite from what you heard about our last fearless leader. In his players meeting he told them he saw them as being champions. You are going to get much farther with positive support. I dont get the feeling that hes going to throw his players under the bus for things either. And as far as what has he proven. Well he does have 4 conf titles in 6 years. He also beat the coach that we all wanted desperately 2 outta 3 times. I am not exactly sure who you guys wanted us to get for the coach?

I'm not bashing the guy, just witholding judgment. He hasn't proven a thing. If he succeeds I'll praise him and say Dave Hart found a diamond in the rough. If he fails I will say that it was a risky hire to begin with and the gamble failed. I hope he succeeds and gets us a conference and national championship. I just don't have the confidence he will. As to Dooley, in the begining he also came across as personable and a southern gentleman. We see how that turned out.

I would've been happy overall if we had gotten Tee. Now I'm just mehhh... we need some more recruiters folks.

"Unanswered Prayers." Are you saying that you actually got down on your knees and prayed to God for Gruden, then Gundy, and finally Strong? Wow! That's hard core fandom! And..I was always told that Jesus hates Tennessee.

Oh, well Merry Christmas Anyway!

He's a step up from Dooley. I see a lot of people saying he has only done well in the big east. But Dooley could barely beat sun belt teams!

The concerns I have about him arent his win/loss record obviously. And 4 championships in 6 years is great. Both programs he inherited from Brian Kelly who rebuilt them and they were both at historical highs in weak conferences. CMU also had Dan Lefevour, recruited by Kelly, whose stats rank him in the top 15 players to ever play college football. Jones did what any decent coach should.....he maintained what he inherited. They didnt get worse. He wont have any of those luxuries here. TN is historically bad right now, in the toughest conference, and the roster is not exactly exceptional either. He should be able to be better than Dooley, but Dooley is the exception and not the standard. I think those are reasonable concerns. Thats not to say he wont win, but his history doesnt reflect anything toward his current situation.
