Unbelievable ticket prices for basketball

Lol yes and so are the drinks and food in my kitchen. Never thought I'd see face value on stuff as high as it is.
Ever think maybe that’s just not the proper listing/wording? Tickets were way cheaper preseason and weeks ago, and there’s tons of tickets cheaper available on the same site, but you think the UT ticket office has randomly just quadrupled the face value of single game upper levels?

It's ticketmaster listing UTs seats. Same crap as Music City Bowl did last year around this time. They call it standard admission which is a joke. Ticketmaster absolutely sucks.

OrangeJuice is right that's the standard price right now it's called dynamic pricing and it can change every day depending on demand. I wish UT would separate themselves from the Ticketmaster.

So clearly not “face value” and no point in complaining about it being a UT issue when it’s nothing they are doing, also weird to complain about those prices when there’s tons of cheap ones available….

The university isn’t setting the prices on Ticketmaster. I don’t know why you are blaming the university for this. Ticketmaster has been in some hot water lately after the Taylor Swift ticket debacle, so if you want to blame anyone blame Ticketmaster.

However, all that being said, welcome to (basically) 2023. Sporting events are not cheap. If you want to attend a matchup between likely Top 10 teams and sit in the lower bowl you’re going to pay for it. Concert tickets are even more expensive. Most concert tickets are between $200-$300 (sometimes more) for a 3 hour live show. If you want to attend a live event in 2023 you aren’t going to be able to get cheap seats.

I’m heading home to Knoxville next week to visit family and my dad bought our entire family of 5 tickets to Austin Freaking Peay and it cost $250 after taxes and fees. This is just now live events are now.

Reminder that if you bought season tickets, $500 for good seats in upper deck, you would be paying on average $30 per game. This is the cost of being good, if you want to attend football games next year I would also consider buying season tickets, shocker but if they’re good then ticket costs once again will be high.

People really don’t understand that good team = higher prices.

I have a neighbor who buys two football season tickets ever year. He then chooses one of the best games of the year and resales it. This year (unfortunately for him) he sold his Alabama tickets which covered the cost of his season tickets. My best friend buys basketball season tickets every year too knowing he’ll only be able to attend roughly half of the games (it’s a fairly nice drive from our neighborhood). It clearly is to his advantage to do that.

I absolutely understand, how do you not? Red seats are verified resale, blue are standard admission. So why is it this expensive? Yeah I see the cheap seats and cheaper ones downstairs.

Because the seller, regardless of who it is, believes that someone will pay it. Is it worth that much? Not to me, but it might be to someone else. Does it price a lot of people out of the market for those seats? Yep. But then, so does the $27 seat.

What do you expect for lowers against a top 10 team when it is almost January? A single seat at that. Ticket prices are just nutty at the moment. Concerts and festivals are even worse and then you look at flights/accomodations.

I recommend season tickets or buying what you want when single game tickets initially drop. I snagged Kentucky, Alabama, and Arkansas tickets back in early October when they were reasonable.

I just got on ticketmaster to buy two tickets as a gift for the Arkansas game at home. I was appalled to see the price. What in the hell is going on here? This is face value.View attachment 524448
The people at ticket master and other ticket resale companies are trying to buy all the tickets for the best games and ask ridiculous prices for them. Did you try the UT ticket office? They may not have any of the prime seats available because of ticket master and others buying all of them. Universities should not sell huge blocks of tickets to these organizations, but they do want to sell as many tickets as possible. They also want us to buy season tickets rather than single game tickets. We will see the same problems when in football and baseball games this Spring.

Bingo, I’ve suggested that to many folks on here who complain about the pricing, but they just need something to b!tch about I guess.

Yeah and if you buy Vandy season football tickets, it might be cheaper than paying for one marquee matchup at Neyland. Then you can re-sell tickets for the other games to UGA, UK, FL, etc fans. And if you are lucky and get bama/LSU on the rotational game, you can make bank.
