UNC letting Mack go.

Well I was wrong. They actually do appear to care about their football program.

I’m pretty surprised by this. Last week they said he was coming back. Mack just got fired . Wow
He has had a good run but it's time for him to retire to sunny Florida or some place that is warm. UNC has been dog$hit this year so I am not surprised MB won't be retained.

I hope he returns to his hometown of Cookeville and helps get those Golden Eagles straightened out in the OVC.

Part time of course, lol

When I was a very young VFL Mack and his brother Watson were the high school heros, they won a state championship for PCSHS. After that they both went to Vandy and had a successful run.

Watson was the head coach for the Golden Eagles at Tennessee Tech ten years ago evidently and sucked out loud, so anyway, I hopes Mack returns to his hometown of Cookeville and helps get those purple and gold boys back on the path.

Thanks for coming with me down my Memory Lane for today. I guy can hope......

They’ve not been good and they will not have played a ranked team all year . I bet Danny Kanell might enjoy that little nugget of information when he’s comparing conferences and has 3 ACC teams in the CFP.

The ACC only deserves one team in the playoff imo. Whoever wins that conference gets the nod.

I think Miami has the highest ceiling bc of Ward, but I think SMU is way overrated. Their loss to BYU keeps getting worse. However, I would love to see them in the CFP in Neyland or in Dallas.

A CFP game at SMU would be hilarious. Their stadium only holds 30k which is about an average Texas high school stadium capacity. Any CFP game in a place that small would have a hard time making much money. I wonder if there's a minimum capacity to host a CFP game buried somewhere in the fine print in the playoff agreement.

Might want to catch up a little. Watson has been gone from TnTech nearly 10 years. He does hold the record as the Losingest coach in NCAA history.

Only coach to have 200 career losses. Why was he the coach so long at UAB and TTU, and how did he keep getting HC offers lol?

I love these online coaching candidate articles. CBS is mentioning Deion for the UNC job. Talk about a culture clash and how is UNC a better job than Colorado?

North Carolina coaching candidates: Jon Sumrall, Barry Odom, Dan Mullen among options to replace Mack Brown

Deion Sanders, Colorado: Sanders is unlikely to be the next coach at North Carolina, but it's worth consideration for both sides. The Colorado coach has led one of the top two-year turnarounds in college football and has the Buffs competing for a Big 12 title. He would supercharge recruiting at UNC and add brand value at a time where the Tar Heels are looking to maximize their value. However, it's highly unlikely that Sanders would be given the amount of latitude in branding and public relations at UNC as he does at CU. It's probably a poor fit for both sides.

@Pennheel whats the word? What are the Heel fans thinking ?

A sense of relief and excitement to finally move forward with frustration of missed opportunities mixed in with respect for what he did for the program.

I'm glad he's gone as he underachieved with the talent he had especially on offense, but I was rooting for him. I'm looking forward to the next head coaching hire. There's good ones out there.

To me, Chadwell is the obvious choice. He’s been successful at four different places, and seems like a good fit.

I would wager that any CFP game with SMU as the home team would be moved to Jerruh World.

Cotton Bowl is only about 7 miles south of SMUs campus, but at night lol.

Not much else I can think of in Dallas proper that has the capacity. If there are conflicts with Cowboys Stadium, then probably TCUs stadium is next up.

Sounds a lot like the feelings of some when Fulmer was let go

I stand corrected. I guess I haven't been back home for a game in maybe 20 years, and who pays attention to the OVC, lol.

That's who id go after first of all... i think he'd be the right fit after his current success.

Perhaps. He is from my neck of the woods. I got the feeling that he had his eyes on getting into the SEC at South Carolina, but Beamer has pulled a 180 this year.
