UNC letting Mack go.

Perhaps. He is from my neck of the woods. I got the feeling that he had his eyes on getting into the SEC at South Carolina, but Beamer has pulled a 180 this year.
beamer does that. everytime he gets on the hotseat he pulls out a good season with good wins. he was on the hotseat in 2022 before his team got suddenly better right at the end against us and clemson.
last year was rough, and his seat was warming up coming into 2024

I didn't see a thread so here you are. It appears Mack is not taking this well.
Should be a warning to any school thinking about hiring a coach for a re-run. Interesting that John Robinson died the same week as Mack was fired. Mack, Robinson and Johnny Majors all had successful runs at UNC, USC and Pitt but left for greener pastures and all returned to these schools for an encore that was spectacularly unsuccessful.

Mack was about the same this go around as last time. They did get to the Orange Bowl and an ACC Title game (maybe 2?), which is an accomplishment. However, UNC has had 3 very good QB’s during his tenure and there was always a reason that they didn’t get over the hump. Same as the 90’s . It would be interesting to see how Mack’s career was thought of if USC didn’t lose a game that they win 8 or 9 times out of 10 in the Rose Bowl.

Only coach to have 200 career losses. Why was he the coach so long at UAB and TTU, and how did he keep getting HC offers lol?
Ended up with 211!losses I think. Best I can figure on getting jobs is he’d take the jobs no one else wanted at the times they were open. And in eras when coaches weren’t ran off every three years. Plus with Tech he was at home. Downside was even though tech was FCS with moderately decent facilities for what they were, under his ring you couldn’t really give away tickets.

The current university president has found a pipeline of upgrade money. The entire campus has been transformed and is no longer concrete albatross. Looks great. They have a new Jumbotron scoreboard some FBS don’t have and they have now torn down the visitor side and rebuilding it to be the new home side.

To their credit TnTech goes out of their way to try an and make games a good outing. And for $10 it’s hard to beat. Also closing in on the best record they’ve had in god kbows how long.

I do not think that former Falcons head coach and current Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith takes the North Carolina job.

100%. The media made Young into a Superman, but whenever I think of that game it is why Carroll never adjusted and spied him with the DE's and made him beat you through the air. Instead, the DE's continuously lost contain and Young had wide open lanes on the outside, which was exactly how the winning TD was scored. USC wins that game 9 out of 10 times, and the 10th is debatable.

That read option w/ VY killed them. Reggie Bush had that huge gainer and decided to try and lateral the ball to another guy, which turned into a fumble. I think on 4th and short they didn’t even have Bush on the field. A lot questionable coaching that game by Carroll, Sark and Kiffin. And honestly that hasn’t really changed all that much over time.

Probably a fair assessment

Forgot the 4th and short. "Hey, let's take our primary threat off the field, go heavy and tell them exactly what is coming". Brilliant.

You don't even need to be cynical to think that they couldn't have done a better job of trying to lose if that had been the plan all along.
