Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

Pruitt strikes me as the type that never gives a thought about the uniforms. I'm guessing Fulmer or someone else in the AD worried over this and made the choice.

Very confusing that you guys seem to be unable to separate the idea that modern, sleek jerseys cant also be used in a program that's all business. Oregon has some of the most flamboyant designs in CFB and, at least over the last decade, they have been overwhelmingly better than us. I like the scaled down look FTR, but theres no correlation between having a cool smokey gray uniform & being bad on the field. Its weird that that talking point is so popular.

*Still loses 8 games*

Obviously, the Smokey grey uniforms weren't the reason we lost, but there is a correlation. We had losing records in them. Unforutaely their synonyms with the worst period in TN history. Let's move on. The 'sleek' uniforms you seem to favor are almost always associated with teams that have no tradition of winning. We do.

But it doesn’t matter. They didn’t start wearing aluminum colored jerseys with neon piping. It’s so ridiculous to pretend it was the jerseys

@DeerPark12 Am I right in assuming we will have the double stripes on the pants and grey trim around the away uni numbers next season? This seems like a stop gap that could be sold as a tribute to the 98 team before the "permanent" changes next year.

Take a look. We had a losing record in every jersey we wore.
And sleek uniforms only being for teams with no tradition isn’t true at all. MOST teams have had them at one time or another. Traditional teams such as Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and many others have dabbled in the alternate uniform game. Alabama and Penn State are the only teams I can’t think of as having introduced something as an alternate or an outlandish design experiment.

I’m not saying we should because of it, just that it isn’t a valid argument against it.

Anybody notice in the reveal video and reveal photos they released, that they don’t show the back of the jerseys? They taking the last names off the back I wonder?

I like the classics. When USC, Bama, PSU, OK, FSU, and a few others play, I know who I'm watching. We need to maintain our traditional look.
Butchna will blast me...but FSU is wearing black Monday night vs Va. Tech. Fugly!!!!!!

Love the new jerseys. I do, however, wish that they had went back to the old school "block" numbers. But I am content with this.
I agree always liked the way that looked, and I'm probably the only one but for some reason I liked the wide orange stripe on white pants we had for a year or 2 back in the early 2000s I think.
