Uniform Impact On Recruiting

The Football Forum is going to give me an ulcer. I'm 22.

Ahhhh, I thought this thread smelled a little funky. Is that where it came from? It's like cyberspace trash that Freak sent floating into the interwebz atmosphere and it landed in the RF.

Nike isn't going to be the deciding factor for any of these kids but they pretty much all prefer to wear it which DOES matter. Plus, it was always going to have a bigger effect on basketball recruiting anyway.

Is nonexistent so far. In fact, we've missed out on two major targets since the release of the new Nike uniforms and we missed those recruits to two schools (Ole Miss and Bama) that haven't had deviations from their uniforms in decades....I thought you guys were sure these new uniforms would have all the top talent flocking to The Hill!?

Mostly blue font, but a little serious -- where are all the commits!?

You didn't believe all that Nike BS did you?

A huge # of posters on these boards pontificated for months about how the new Nike uniforms, which throw our great traditional look to the birds, were going to get 5*s to The Hill... Just wondering where they are now (both the 5*s and the Pontificators).

You can't be serious with this. Please provide links to said large number of posts saying uniforms would bring in more five stars.

Yes. Link said posters where we can laugh and point. Unless they're from the football forum. Don't go bringing that level of stupid up in here.

When they sign their LOI, being a Nike school doesn't mean jack crap regardless of them tweeting or saying they think it's cool. They also think flat screen TVs in the locker room are cool, but it's not why kids choose the schools they do. Try proximity to home, relationship to coaches, and potential to play early. Everything else is a distant, and I mean distant second.

Man you are very naive if you don't think it matters. My buddy chose to play at Embry-Riddle and a big factor was them being a Jordan school. It was for basketball but still.

Do you think Nike will bring enough top tier talent to cover the $750,000 less a year the new contract Nike will pay UT vs. the Adidas contract was paying UT.

I thought UT was hurting for money.....blue font:thud:

So if Nike is so much of a difference maker in recruiting, I wonder why Auburn (Under Armour), and Texas A&M (Adidas) have been able to put together solid recruiting classes

Auburn has Under Armour, which is a unique draw on its own.

Texas A&M has that whole, what is it, State of Texas thing going for it.

No one is saying recruits are picking Tennessee due strictly to Nike. People are simply saying that it is a positive contributing factor.

If some posters choose to ignore all the comments from past, current, and potential commits that back this up, then so be it. They can stick their heads in the sand.

If some posters choose to continually wail, whimper, and sob about the switch from Adidas, that's fine. They can sit in the corner with their discount Adidas gear.

If we had just gone with The Gap for our jerseys we would never lose a player from the upper middle class down, especially in the south and midwest.

Get on it Butch.

Feaster, KD, Higgins, Hunter Johnson. You do know that every other school in the country would love to put together two events in the summer that even mirrored orange carpet day, let alone all of the the star power that has been on the hill in the past month. Just be quiet and come back a year from now. PATIENCE is a KEY virtue.

I think it impacts recruiting more for basketball. I don't know much about any NFL players repping Nike shoes.

Well, they may not be "repping" them, but they are wearing them. NIKE is now the official uniform provider for all 32 teams. That includes shoes.

NFL players can wear whatever brand of shoe they sign with.

Uniforms are nike
