Kentucky pays their basketball more than the combined salaries of Tennessee's football and basketball's head coaches. Same goes for Alabama's football coach.

"A penny saved is a penny earned" says Ben Franklin. (Or did he say: "You get what you pay for"?

"A penny earned is a penny saved" says George Bush.

FYP:p

IMO, I believe more in incentive driven contracts....they reward the coach and university when things are well, and makes $$$ less painful if it doesn't work out.

Essentially, he's saying the reason Kentucky's so good is that they buy $4.5 million basketballs for their kids to play with made out of illegally harvested tiger leather and filled with vaporized gold dust.

We should start paying more for our footballs. This isn't a basketball conference.

Who cares? As long as we start winning in doesn't matter. We are Tennessee not Alabama or Kentucky and don't want to be. Please don't reference all the championships because I know about them. If we can get a coach for a bargain that wins and represents this university with class then they will get raises accordingly.

Pretty sure Saban or Calipari have accomplished more than our two coaches.

I wonder what Calipari's salary is after his players' commissions, though.

What he's saying is that our direct rivals hire top-notch coaches...we in turn hire coaches who have won 1 NIT game. Should work out well for us. Maybe Cuonzo can bring the "classy in defeat" attitude with him. Great, we've now turned in to Vandy.

It is sickening as much money as they have. I like our coaches, but this penny saving BS got old a long time ago

Mods, cancel this thread. When I did a little research and found out Tennessee was paying $1.3 million to a ladies basketball coach plus $6 million to an ex coach who had two losing seasons in his final four years........I thought the more appropriate title would be "University of Tennessee: the Neiman Marcus of college sports"!:banghead2:

Don't bring big lots down to Hamilton's level.

Good analogy. Just remember guys, when we're getting our collective butts kicked by both Saban on the field and Calamari on the hardwood we'll always have integrity and the AD's office will still have your money. It's a win win for them.

It's real old when all you've heard in Hamilton's defense is how he turns a profit.
