UNREAL COMEBACK

A win for the ages. Games like that make sports so much fun. Baseball is just a different type game and people who never played or even followed baseball much oftentimes don’t understand this. I must say however…Vols CAN NOT give up 9 walks and basically 6 errors (I know they only credited us with 3) and expect to win for the rest of the CWS. And I don’t think we will. Also… the aggressiveness through the zone with 2 strikes by our team …was extremely impressive!

Raise your hand if you thought they would wind after they gave up 6 runs in the 3rd inning. I didn’t. I have Battered Vol Syndrome, so I kept watching, fully expecting an almost comeback. Then they broke Florida State’s heart. My hat is off to these guys. Wow, just wow!

Just relived the 9th inning again so my wife could see it, and it was just as incredible.

Funny, but from the beginning of the 9th that rally for some reason just seemed inevitable. Every batter aside from Dylan had a deep count and really grinded their AB's, staying alive then delivering huge clutch hits, just phenomenal disciplined hitting. And for a team known for HR's, a huge rally like that without a single one, although Tears', Curley's and Dreiling's balls were all easily out of LNS.

This team just felt different coming into Omaha, way more so than 2021 or '23. They still have the confidence and swagger of the great 2022 team, but there is a level of maturity and mental discipline with this group that I never sensed in the last three years. Tony V has done a masterful job with this team, and guys like CMo, Blake, and Kirby have really embraced their roles as leaders and tone setters.

It just seems that this group is destined, and will just refuse to be denied. Go Vols!!

I turned sound off when announcers wouldn't stop FSU
love fest.....Greg Olson and and his sidekick n Super Regional were horrible were so sure Evansville wld win out early game 4 kept mentioning how losing ND and Evansville wld stain program
I rarely listen to any announcers all so biased most can't hide it if they tried...Go Vols.....
For some reason, what really irked me was when an FSU guy popped out to center, and one of the guys (Burk?) said "That would have cleared the batters eye in Lindsey Nelson." A little later, CMo blasted one to that same part of the field that easily got out. It just chaps me that they give the notion that we only hit a lot of dingers because we play in a rinky dink park.

At this point, I am accustomed to ESPN being slanted against UT in every sport. Wouldn’t expect anything otherwise.

One of a long list of reasons the only thing I watch on ESPN is live sports and usually with the volume low.

I quit watching anything but games on ESPN more than 20 years ago, but I recommend going a step further - record the game on DVR and start it about an hour late. You miss all the endless commercials and stoppages, but mainly the announcer garbage like that FSU stuff. You finish the game at the same time without the ESPN agita.

Been watching sporting events this way for 25 years, and I'm not sure I could sit through a live event ever again.

Yeah, the sloppiness and lack of discipline early was out of character. Tony or some of the team leaders must have said some things, because they tightened it up late. Like you said, pretty amazing to win a game playing the way we did early, just shows the guts and character of this group.

I thought coming into this tourney that we were too dependent on homers--and home runs accounted for a huge percentage of our runs--and it would hurt us in the spacious Omaha park, but we proved last night with 18 hits (and two homers) that we have good all-around hitters. I'd like to see the LN fences moved back a bit, but I doubt it happens and the way balls fly off of the aluminum bats these days, I don't think a few feet of extra outfield would matter anyway.

Dylan Dreiling made my Guinness taste sooooooo much better!!
Nothing and I mean nothing makes Guinness taste better even when drinking it poured from a tap in Ireland!

Tweener beer. No distinct character notes, but nothing bad either. It's the the Miller Lite of stouts.

If ever in Winston Salem, NC... try the Foothills Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout. Sometimes you can catch a version aged in Pappy Van Winkle barrels. That's a stout worthy of this victory!

I'm glad we finally won a game where the other team was cheated. Usually we are on the short end of that stick.
Were they really cheated? I don't have espn [*spit!*] and couldn't see the game (I listened to audio), so I have to ask, did our guys really pitch ball after ball, walk after walk?

This team does more work with 2 outs than any other team.
I agree. I think that is one characteristic of this team that gets overlooked sometimes. While I’m a big proponent of aggressive swings early in the count when the pitch is in the zone , we’ve had a ton of 0-2 and 1-2 counts this year as well (which can quickly lead to 2 outs) especially with the 6-9 slot. Usually our 1-5 slots are aggressive from the start and seem to stay away from “in the hole” counts generally. Thankfully we have been able to be productive behind in the count or with 2 outs. Hope that continues!

"Cheated" is the wrong word. At worst it was a bad call, which happens multiple times a game - both ways. But I agree, it's about time the Vols had one go our way in a HUGE moment.

I’ll raise a hand. Many years following Astros and Vols, which expands to MLB, MiLB and NCAA. Down Five in the fourth ain’t doodoo for a stepper.

I turned the channel after that inning. Down 7-4. Got updates from a relative. Sloppiness on defense and the commentators drooling over FSU. I couldn’t watch anymore. Now I have to go catch a replay.
I flipped channels once it got to 9-4. Like you, I couldn't handle the announcers getting a chubby talking about FSU. Watched an episode of Blue Bloods, then flipped back just as the 8th inning started. What a fantastic finish!!!
