Thanks. Had no idea Dickey was so highly regarded.Newly nestled in at No. 2 after a dominant sophomore season for the Volunteers, Chase Dollander is the top college pitching prospect. With easy fastball velocity up to 98 mph (Post-season Heat Sheet), two distinct breaking balls (a sharp, 83-86 mph slider and a 73-75 mph curveball) and an above average changeup, the right-hander also performs at the highest of levels, posting a 10-0 record with a 2.39 ERA and 108 strikeouts against only 13 walks in 79 innings last season for Tennessee.
11. Jared Dickey, OF, Tennessee
– A converted catcher at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Dickey has both the hit tool and the ability to put his raw power into game production. He has a professional approach at the plate, works the middle of the field and consistently finds barrels for triple digit exit velocities.
21. Maui Ahuna, SS, Tennessee
– After starring for Kansas over the last two seasons, Ahuna will transfer to Tennessee for his junior year, and he has the tools and track record to make a run at the first round if he can keep performing in the SEC. A live-bodied athlete who projects to stick at shortstop, Ahuna also has emerging pop in his righthanded bat, and his hit tool took a big step this spring, when he batted .396 for the Jayhawks.
I didn’t realize Dickey is draft eligible already. Wow. That’s exciting for him but sucks for us. Pretty damn high praise to be the #11 college prospect after his limited playing time last year due to injury. That’s pretty much saying he has 1st round potential.

Believe Ortega signed for slot value. Was quick, so you likely just forgot. Rockies have only announced one signing, so I wouldn’t be getting your hopes up on Beck or Crawford. With the August 1 deadline for MLB approaching, unless I missed it, haven’t heard of the following signing as of yet: Crawford, Beck, Ortega, McLaughlin. Could there be a surprise return in there?
He’s a really good kid. My littles go to the same school so I’ve watched him play a bit. A true 5 tool player. My only hang up, from a limited number of games watching him play, is that he never came thru in the clutch. Jeff Blauser’s son is also on the team and will play for Clemson this year, he was really clutch on the way to the championship. Interesting observation, Druw’s dad always watched games from the outfield away from everyone else. Lots of people thought he was just a snob but I think he was really trying to take the spotlight off himself and make it all about his son. Kid can throw, run, lay down a bunt, hit a homer, and cover center field….Druw Jones seems like a cool kid.
MLB.com shows Ortega as still unsigned. Beck, Crawford, McLaughlin, and Lawson show as still unsigned as well.
