UPDATED Tim Banks a potential candidate for Miami and Clemson DC

Those improvements were based off of games against the vandy's, ky's, and the Chattanooga's. How did he do facing the Dawgs, Bama, gators and the buckeyes. It's easier to out muscle an inferior OL, but you better change your scheme when you face an OL that has equal talent. This is where Banks needs to work on his game.
The Ohio State game was extremely disappointing, but we did well against Bama and Florida - holding them both to just 17 points. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get to Beck and Howard like we were able to get to everyone else this season and they ripped us apart, but you're talking about two of the best QBs in the country when they have time to throw. I don't know ball well enough to know if our lack of pressure against them was scheme related or just the result of their pass protection being impenetrable. But in the case of Ohio State I lean toward "impenetrable" because of what they did to Oregon the following week. Texas was able to slow them down but that's the #3 defense in football.

Are we really going to be mad at any DC who can't produce the top defense in the country? Until we regress, I can't criticize the job he's done.

Anyone can throw numbers on the forum to "Prove" he is elite. But when faced with stiff competition he doesnt adjust and just gets exposed. He has trouble with teams that use alot of motion.
Are we also going to saying to Dan Lanning isn't an elite defensive coach? Penn State and Ohio State averaged 37 ppg against Oregon over 3 games. Boise State put up 34 on them.

You're going to be hard pressed to find many defenses who are able to stop the best offenses in the country.

Oklahoma held Bama to 3 points, does that make him a great DC? I think not.

Not mad that hes our DC. Just pointing out he has flaws and i personally do not think he is in the "Elite" category. That is all.

Why would he take a lateral move from PSU to Clemson? I don't see their ceiling being any higher than PSU's. Maybe a slightly easier path to the playoffs, but unless Dabo changes his stance on NIL, Clemson isn't going anywhere.

Well Franklin has hit his ceiling..... Dabo is a 2x Natty winner.... It is more likely than not that Dabo will strike gold with a generational QB.

Dabo was a 2x Natty winner in a very different era than the current one. Franklin may have hit his ceiling at PSU, but I believe Dabo has at Clemson as well.

I think Allen's culture is almost identical to Dabo's + he hated being confined to calling plays from the booth

Or he's cashing that Abdul Carter check before people wise-up

It's not Clemson. They reportedly ust hired Penn State DC Tom Allen. Good hire for them. He reportedly wasn't getting along with Janes Franklin. Not many do.

There is lightyears difference between Franklin at Penn State and Dabo at Clemson
