Thank you for the clarification. You keep saying NIL like coaches paying players under the table is/was NIL. It’s not. Coaches directly paying players under the table is still illegal. In this thread I have commented on the idea that this particular player has accused Meyer of illegal offerings being made while he was at Ohio State in 1999. Urban Meyer was a position coach at Notre Dame during these alleged illegal activities. It gives me no pleasure to point out inaccuracies that show Urban in a better light, but I also don’t want to wrongly accuse the guy if in this instance he couldn’t be guilty.Sure. We are focusing on different issues. But you do know I didn't write the article, right?
Well, you know, Here's to our wives and girlfriends...may they never meet!Thank you for the clarification. You keep saying NIL like coaches paying players under the table is/was NIL. It’s not. It's not illegal at all. It never has been. The NCAA doesn't make laws.Thank you for the clarification. You keep saying NIL like coaches paying players under the table is/was NIL. It’s not. I understand the NCAA doesn’t make law. You know what I meant. It's not illegal at all. It never has been. The NCAA doesn't make laws.
It was against their rules, which were illegal.
Now direct pay to college athletes has been approved by the NCAA so all of the hand wringing about Urban is moot.
In related topics, it's time for SMU to sue the NCAA into oblivion like so many others are doing.
lol I guess I’m the incompetent one. But I’ll strike it up to God looking after me and not letting me get in a debate I shouldn’t lower myself to.You’re also either a d*** or very incompetent
I know freshman bench warmers who got cash or cars back in the Fulmer days. and not high rated guys, some local TN boys who were filling out the roster. There were a handful of players getting under-the-table money--but not many, and nothing like the craziness we see today.
I am immediately suspicious when people feel the need to proclaim how virtuous they are.Meyer has always been a sanctimonious and hypocritical jerk. I remember his speeches about only coaching at places who were willing to “do things the right way” and how most school don’t do it the right way. Enjoy this nuggets from his book. This was after he coached the Pouncey bros, Hernandez, and that guy who beat his girl then played a week later.
Seems like there was also a story about Oklahoma giving him a car and later wanted it back because he didn't sign with them.. I don't think he gave it back...I knew a coach who recruited Eric Dickerson for OK State. He said Dickerson wanted $10K for a visit and $50K to sign. SMU paid up. That was a lot of money then
