It's more his handling of the situation that is controversial rather than the fact he had a guy arrested a couple of times for domestic violence on his staff.

He says he knew about the 2009 arrest. He said he didn't know about the 2015 arrest, but he was charged with trespassing and had a protection order put on him last week by his ex-wife. Today, he said there was "nothing" to the 2015 incident, but he fired him, and said that the fact all this went public played into the firing.

The interesting reporting about this is that Smith interviewed for multiple jobs this offseason at Meyer's request. It seems to me he was fired not because of the two incidents, but because they became known publicly, and tried to quietly find him another job this offseason.

Urban claiming this morning he knew about the 2009 arrest but not the 2015 one.

I'll bet $100 Meyer would fail a lie detector test on this one.
