Urban Meyer to Ohio State: A Letter from the Florida Gators

So there are pretty good football players outside of Georgia & Florida

Hmm.

Yes, there are. But most top players that have speed don't play in the north. It's just the way it is. My point is, he won't get top players from anywhere in the south to come play in the cold.

Ohio st gets their fair share out of the state of florida. Adding meyer only helps that.

Meh, just throw a beanie on them and they'll be fine.

Really though....The play makers on the offensive side of the ball will go where they will be best utilized on the field. Not saying it will be a walk in the park , But nobody should be surprised when Ohio St snatches a few big time skill players down south.

Also those Florida teams had national talent , Not just Florida/southern kids

The state of Ohio is FILLED with talent, both FAT and FAST. Great linemen. Great Skilled players.

Ohio (as Brady Hoke calls them. The bobcats are. . . Bobcats) has been getting their pick of players from Ohio since the sweater vest took over That will not change. They may pull a few more from florida, but that opens up Ohio just a bit more for the likes of UT and MSU, who both are recruiting the area hard.

Im ok with it. There are only a certain # of schollys to give. And the Big Ten doesnt allow oversigning. Not worried. (no more than usual)

I had to be careful with my comments. these days 15 year olds look 20, so I figured odds are at least one of them would be in middle school somehow.

But this makes me happy. What would be better than to pork the daughter of a hated football coach? (I'm 21 so it's totally cool for me to talk about college girls like that I believe)

Oh I understand completely. I have a theory for that, it is a little different than others. Mine is YOUR AGE divided by 2. Add 7, and then +/- whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable, as long as she is over 18.

Im 46. Im not touching any college girls. But not because I wouldnt want to! :hi: But there is NO piece of tail worth getting jailsexed for.

Also. A little grudge match with some coaches daughter never hurt anyone.

And yeah, the youngest is a Freshman at Florida Gulf Coast, something like that. Volleyball scholly.

The oldest is a Jr or Sr at GaTech. Volleyball scholly.

the boy (not that you are interested) is a stud baseball player.

And Momma Meyer is a trainer at Gainesville Health and Fitness, and is in preeeeeeeetttty good shape. Google her sometime and look at her arms. WOW.

Well it's not just the cold weather that's a factor. It's a small factor, but I think the biggest challenge to getting those kids there is distance. Ohio is a long way from TX, FL, and CA. These kids won't their family and friends to be able to attend a few games and come watch them play. That's a lot harder to do when they have to travel half way across the country. Not to mention how often these kids get homesick.

Like someone else said, Ohio has plenty of good players. They aren't only in FL, GA, TX or CA. So, Meyer can lock up good talent and have very good recruiting classes, I just wouldn't expect to see too many of those freak athletes that you seem from the Sunshine state.

He will get some of them. OSU, um, MSU, nd, all of the northern schools hit Florida and Georgia pretty hard. They pull in the kids that want to get away from their families. There are plenty of them. And some families have the money to travel. But really, this is just a small part of the recruiting base. Not many of the high 4 dna 5 stars slip out of the southeast to the BigTen. They try to find the 3* that is a diamond in the rough, or a kid that others missed. MSU has done very well there lately.

Urb will do ok recruiting the south. But Ohio, MI (detroit/saginaw), Wisc, and where Urb will be making up his ground.

One of the advantages that UT should have is that they are the midpoint for both of those hotbeds. Kids can go 8-10 hrs from home, mom and pop can take friday off to travel and go back home on Sunday, and everyone is happy. FL to Ohio or MI is a tough haul.

rambling. off to bed.

As It is with many 18-19 year olds across the nation...But they're not dumb , Big time college football has became a business. You can bet a player will pack up from home and move to Montana for the next 2-3 years if that's where his talents/skills will be used to the best of their ability.

Think we all know Meyer has a knack for showcasing players strong points. Point being Ohio St has had a pipeline to Florida for some years now.....Throw in Urban don't know why someone would think we can't pick out a few big time players out of FL

Over reaction in my opinion. I appreciate what Meyer did at UF. Two National championships we may not have had otherwise.

He left. I don't hold a grudge. He can go where ever he wants.

I wish him well.

Now if you could just figure out what everyone else knows, you got Kiffened in slow motion.

Oh I understand why lots of Gators are ticked off. I'm just saying, in the grand scheme of things, it ain't worth me getting worked up over.

He left, he came back, he left again. He's gone.

Good luck and adios.

Colin Cowturd said yesterday that Florida is a program you go to for a few years, win, and then move on. Thoughts, gatordeputy?

Although he said it was because the SEC was stressful, not because it was a stepping stone program.

Though it's seemed that way recently, I think if we get the right coach in, it could be for a long run. Florida is a great job. You just have to win and have thick skin.

There are too many fans with unrealistic expectations. I'm an old guy and I remember how bad we were at times. That's why I appreciate when we do well, because years like we are having now come back no matter how great you think you are.

Sure the SEC is stressful, but these guys should know that coming in. It's only the #1 conference in the country. Stress is a given.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary. :hi:
