That would be awesome. I don't like Meyer but it would be sweet if he ran over the Big 10. I don't care for Penn State but I hate Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, Nebraska etc. far more.

Watch your mouth about the first team :)

No way anyone affiliated with that university will have the balls to run him off like FSU did Bowden.

Has Joe Pa said this is his last year?

Have you seen him? I don't want to judge, but he looks lost. I'm not kidding. He looks like he doesn't even know where he is half the time I've seen him this year. Even though it was the worst secret in football, it looked really bad he's up in the press box, and he not only doesn't have a headset, but there really isn't anyone paying him attention. I have to believe he's done.

I shouldn't laugh at that but for some reason I did

I agree, he is finally starting to act his age but I just dont believe they will run him off if he doesnt wanna go. That is one school, as crazy at it may sound that loves their coach more than winning. jmo

I also dont see Cryer taking the PSU job when he has already turned down Notre Dame and OSU.

He is the program. Without him, there's a good chance nobody cares about Joe Paterno. That's why I don't really have a problem with him being the coach as long as he has.

But this year, it's different. It's not like I thought he was that involved in the program, but he at least looked the part, talked/visited recruits, etc. But I mean he looks terrible, sounds terrible, etc. I mean, Good Lord, he's 84.

I think it's time. If the school does not get involved, his family does. Because it's going to hurt him more and more if he continues to coaching. But he's got Bear Bryant Syndrome. My dad and I truly believe that Paterno think he'll die once he quits coaching.

I honestly thought he would take the ND job, and had he not had his problems, I still think he would have. I believe the Suckeye job is his if he wants it.

And they should. Joe built the program and, IMHO, has every right to stay as long as he likes. He's brought in countless millions (m aybe billions) to the school and donated other millions out of his own pocket. Anyone who thinks of pushing him out is an idiot.

On a different note, if this comes to be true, I win a $100 bet. Said after Urban left the Gators that he'd be the next Penn State coach. Guys at work think I'm an idiot and that a current PSU coach is a lock. Again, IMHO, I believe Urban is a truly good guy and doesn't like having to play the SEC recruiting game by going after a bunch of thugs just to get wins. I really believe that that is part of what contributed to his poor health. He's from Big10 country and knows that he can recruit the "right way" in Happy Valley.

I remember a PSU player this year saying the team was afraid of who was going to run into him on the sidelines and kill him...And it would...I think its time he got out and allowed someone else to run the show for awhile...He's earned his rewards and now time for him to relax a little...He could even stay involved with the university just not on the football field...

He's publically stated that once he's done coaching, he expects to die shortly thereafter. I summarize, but that seems to be his mindset.

That was in an article from The Onion.

This is totally speculation on my part, but do you guys think Meyer could be looking at making a move to the NFL?

I just have a really hard time seeing him leave UF and then after only a year take another college coaching gig. I would have to think that the UF fans will been POed like none other if this happens. I think the UF fans, and everyone in general, would be able to understand if he took a job with the Browns or the Bengals maybe.

The dolphins make a trade for Tebow and hire Urban as head coach. The marriage is back together. Since Luck will be going to Indy more than likely...

And he is probably correct. JoePa's true love is PSU football. Look at Bear Bryant. My dad told me if he ever got to where he couldn't work, he would die. Died less than a year after he quit working. For some people, especially in that generation, their work seems to be their will to live. I believe their parents, most of whom survived the Great Depression, instilled that work ethic in them.

wasn't ESPN linking him to the PSU job right after he retired? Then they linked him to the Ohio St job. I don't care just don't let him back in the SEC. : )
