Urban Myer to ut?

Me too.
Shot the SOB off the top of my brand new car with my .45
Momma Bear was quite upset, she was fond of William Goat.
Was touch and go for a few minutes as to whether or not I would have to shoot her also.
In your situation, it sounds like G.O.A.T. meant going onto another target.

When Texas targets a coach, they typically get the guy they want or someone with a solid resume. Same cannot be said for UT. When the Vols have a coaching vacancy, history has shown it ends horribly. What’s puzzling is that Texas has hired successful coaches but continues to struggle or cannot get that elite status back. Herman most likely survives this year, but I have my doubts he can get the longhorns competing in the CFP (probably perennial top 20 type of coach). Vols and longhorns have similar Parallels after the programs moved on from Fulmer and Brown
Tennessee targeted Charlie Strong too and he told us "thanks but no thanks" because he thought a better job would come along, and he was right. They were able to get Strong, but supposedly a bunch of boosters and others in the admin weren't sold on him. But generally you're right; they targeted Herman and got him.

Texas is still able to shoot pretty high, higher than us, because their reputation/brand has not been degraded as much as ours has, plus they have more money. We aren't paupers by any means, but Texas does have a lot more. Texas is in a place money-wise where they can afford to waste a bunch of money and it really doesn't matter. If Tennessee wastes a lot of money, which we have over the years, people get nervous about spending.

The most amazing thing to me about Texas is how they can't land a QB. I saw a list of about 15 NFL QBs that have come out of that state over the last 7-10 years, and not a single one went to Texas. It's amazing.

Yeah, I remember lots of fans were disappointed when Strong told us no for Texas. So bizarre that Strong turned out to be a dud.

Yeah, surprised it didn't work for Strong at Texas or South Florida. He was great at Louisville (when they were still in a G5 conference, admittedly). I'm surprised it isn't working better for Herman either, especially considering their boosters were 100% on board with him.

Rumors to be headed to Texas. Everybody but us.

Doubt he will ever coach again... Is content with his businesses in Columbus and his work with the university, plus he seems to really enjoy his work with Fox (excellent analyst). He has as much work or more now than he had when coaching, minus all the stress. Doubt he would ever take any other schools baggage, including Texas. He doesn't need the money and he can't accomplish anymore than he did at OSU where he had an 84-9 record.

I think you and most of the rest of the board might disagree, but I think Texas might have culture issues in the admin/boosters that exceed what Tennessee has.

Tennessee and Texas I think have pretty similar dysfunctions, except Texas has 10x the number of cooks in the kitchen because their booster community is much larger. I don't know how an AD, a university president, or other admin figure gets all those people under control and moving in the same direction.
If they are more screwed up than the Vols, I almost feel sorry for them.
I can see what you are saying.
Lotta RICH folks in Texas, all wanting to be top cowboy.
Texas proves that money alone will not buy a championship program.

I don't think it was Strong as much as Teddy Bridgewater. Strong is a very average (at best) coach without Teddy as his QB. If Pruitt ever find his QB he will look like a much better coach as well.

I don't understand why we do this to ourselves. There will no doubt be a Bob Stoops thread in the near future as well... and wait for it.... here come the Grumors, round 5.
