Not 15th... I will honestly be let down if we finish this next season outside of the top 10. We've got the talent and coaching ability to make it happen, and I am expecting at least Sugar Bowl in 2006.

Although I think we will still have a hard time competing in rankings with Big Ten teams. That conference is looking very tough.

Well, you can bet your bottom dollar that if it is between 4 undefeated teams....they will have Tennessee in the 4 spot. Not that it is likely to have 4 this season...just saying.

Ok... Because aside from USC, I only see maybe one team going undefeated. I think the Big Ten is too good to have any teams leave unscathed, and although I am confident about our Vols, I don't think we can sustain an undefeated season. Things still feel very irradic. We may pull it off, though, we've got the best shot of any SEC team. The other conference to look out for is the ACC, I think the conference is good enough to produce a national title contender and just soft enough throughout that one team that's good enough could go undefeated. Probably Virginia Tech.

I'm not used to hearing that on this board...

Yeah, I'll agree with that Milo. Depending on Marcus Vick, Tech could be really tough next year. Think that anyone will slip USC a loss?

USC can be beat, but it's looking like they will go undefeated. Oregon, Arizona State and Notre Dame all have the best shots, if I remember their schedule correctly.

That would be sweet if Tennesse beat Notre Dame and they beat USC. It feels good to be talking some football again..

Seriously. I'm just sitting here like, "What is this foreign feeling I feel?"

Nah, I think Weis will start to work some magic with the Domers but not yet. Both us and USC have road visits to South Bend, though, so we'll see how it goes.

Fresno State might be a giant-killer, but beating Virginia and beating USC are two whole different deals. I will be rooting for Fresno State, though. I like pulling for WAC teams, they're all like a bunch of little engines that could.

That's a friggin joke. There is no way ANY of those plays do anything against us. The "WR TD Run" is a joke of a reverse and the "trick play" that UF probably got right because well.... it's not really a trick play... it's simple misdirection. Our LB's are too well coached to be fooled on that, and have the closing speed to get sideline to sideline too quickly.

The Long Pass Play is even more funny, considering it said it was against a UNC Zone, and that spot it's diagramed to isn't an open hole in the zone... it's blown coverage underneath.

UF is going to get killed. Urban Myth is in store for a very rude awakening.

LOL you guys have been watching too much of THE WATER BOY...

Oh no the fumble rooskie...or statue of liberty...

Really guys just read the ART OF WAR-

Coaches have styles they play and mold their team around...

Any good offense will try to incorp. their style to best attact a weakness of the defense which is multi fold. I.E. ( basic poor player potiential, aligments, injuries)

Any good defense knows it weakness and prepares to be attacked at that spot...

What is key in all this is how both sides of the ball get to that point of being prepared. I.E. (fundemental skill work, mental skill work, knowing your enemy)

As for playbooks and such- If you know the coach's style, have film for tendencies, know his players potential and coaches potential to train them... A playbook is not going to mean a hill of beans...

I don't know, but I do know that you just picked up a penalty on an illegal use of pronoun.

Just kidding... Welcome. We like to rag on eachother for spelling a lot of the time.

No, I mean, I seriously doubt that is his playbook.

Those are 4 of Meyer's plays. Underneath 2 of them, it talks about playing against aTm's and UNC's defense... There is another reason he was successful, he didn't play against any defense. Not even in his bowl game.

Meyer has never faced teams with the speed of the SEC. That is a fact that Leak will learn the hard way.

Meyer will score points in some games but he also will have to deal with blitzing defenses and secondaries that will level WR's if they got across the field on short plays to compensate.

Leak will have a solid yet not great year and the Leak/Portis talk will heat up

I saw the comment about a "trick" play and the comparisons to Hal's work at UK.

These things will score TD's but they will not sustain a team in a tough conference. Go back and look at the teams that rise to the top - they play solid in the trenches, have a balanced attack (or if unbalanced it is unbalanced in favor of the run) and control time of possession.

UM must find a way to run the ball to succeed in the SEC. Bama from last year is a perfect example. Their defensive stats were so impressive (#1 for much of the season) due in large part to the game plan of running the ball. The opponents got relatively few possessions. UA won the time of possession battle in almost every game and as a result were in most every game.

The UM approach (as currently represented) will win games for UF but is not the style to win championships. If you look at SOS's best seasons, you will find balance between run and pass. As AllVol documented for us in the Fall (where is he by the way), UT's success is directly tied to run dominance.

Bottomline: BRING IT ON URBAN
